Good Tuesday morning to you friends! How are you? Did you have a nice and hopefully relaxing weekend? I apologize for not posting yesterday but frankly I was worn out. We were out of our house all day Saturday and Sunday for showings on the house and it did not leave me too much time to work on my blog.
Spring is back and it is so beautiful, the trees are bursting with buds, “whirly gigs” are fluttering from the sky, the birds wake me every morning with their sweet song and greet me at the feeder in my kitchen window, my squirrel is there as well to keep me entertained. The sunny days with no humidity and cool evening are perfect for long walks and a good nights sleep. Aside from Fall this these few weeks are my favorite time of the year.
I cannot believe that Mother’s Day is just two weeks away! I swear that time seems to go faster as I age. I personally have not shopped yet for Mother’s Day. I typically send my mom her favorite homemade sponge candy and then a few special things I have picked up, like a new perfume or a beautiful scarf or something I’ve made. One of my favorite things I ever gave to my mom and one of her favorites as well was a papier mache box I made, the outside was all words describing my mom, the inside was all words about family and nestled inside the box were 4 eggs that were decorated with words describing each one of her 4 children. I was fun to make and fun for her to receive. I would share a photos but I do not have one right now and as my mom doesn’t live close I can’t zip over to get one.
If you are looking for a delicious coffee cake to make for Mother’s Day brunch, this one is one of the most popular that I have ever made.
I made a scrumptious lemon pound cake yesterday(I will share the recipe later), when I am stressed I like to bake so buckle up you may be seeing a lot of food on the blog in the coming weeks. The irony is that I am not eating any sweet treats or sugar, except for my morning chocolate so I will have a lot to send to family and friends and to give to my 90 year old neighbor Lawrence who has a sweet tooth.
I have another busy day today of showings, work, packing, purging and more. What do you have planned for your day? What are you making or giving your mom for Mother’s Day? If you have a favorite recipe or something that you like to make your mom please share it and the link so that we can try it as well.
I hope that you have a beautiful week, stay safe and well.

Goodness! Let’s throw moving, selling your home and packing/purging into the mix! Bake on, sweet friend! I’m cheering you on from the sidelines! The journey, tho scary at times, offers new excitement! Breathe it all in!
Elizabeth says
It is a little scary, but it will all get done. Have a great day Leslie.

Selling your house will occupy a lot of your time.
Elizabeth says
William you are right about that, we have a lifetime of stuff to pack.

Elizabeth, didn’t know you were actually, once again, planning to sell your beautiful house! I’m sure you are inundated with work regarding all that entails. Take care of each other, and the doggies, as your energy for life must be compromised with so much to do. Baking still is probably not so easy right now – but knowing you, your wonderful sweets are still coming out of the oven!!!!
I subscribe to English Home also – my favorite after UK Country Living – and the gardens especially make me homesick.
Do take care – hope all goes well dear.
Hugs – Mary

Thank you Mary, I will keep you posted about the move, hopefully it will be closer to you! Have a wonderful day! Hugs, Elizabeth
