Tuesday Thoughts

Good morning friends, how was your weekend? Our weekend was relaxing with many hours spent reading on the front porch, I am really going to miss my wrap-around porch but hopefully the next house will have something similar.  The weather here has been amazing; sunny spring days and nights with a light breeze.  I cannot recall in the 14 years I’ve lived here the weather ever being like this. Typically, this time of the year it is too hot and humid to want to spend any time outside much less still have the windows open.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon with Lawrence, and then his neighbors whom we have never met came over and had dinner with us as well. It was an evening filled with lively conversation, scrumptious grilled steaks and chicken and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Lawrence and I are currently planning our Memorial Day weekend menu so far we have the basics, burgers, potato salad and brownies.

In addition to the strawberry short cake I made blueberry muffins, and some roasted blueberries to use on yogurt, rice pudding, chia pudding and no-churn vanilla bean ice cream.

Did you purchase any of the dresses from Christopher John Rogers collection for Target? I ordered this colorful cobalt blue dress and I could not love it more. It is beautifully made, fits perfect and it a statement piece to be sure. I also ordered this dress , again it is beautifully made but I ordered an extra small and it is too big, there is just too much fabric in the dress and the sleeves. My initial thought when I tried it on what that I looked like a clown. There were a few other bright beautiful dresses in the collection but they were sold out.

I just started reading The Happiest Man on Earth, have you read it? All I can say is, Eddie is an amazing man. Are you reading anything interesting? Do you have a summer book list? I think I am going to make one, do you have something that you think we “must read” this summer? Personally I like to read light, chick-lit, beach reads in the summer and save the heavier topics for Fall and winter.

I hope that you have a wonderful week my friends, thanks for stopping by!

I saw Eddie on the Today Show a few weeks back. What an amazing man. One thing he said was if you have your health you’re a multimillionaire. I have to read his book. Thanks for the reminder.

I’ve added that book to my WISH LIST as it sounds awesome! I’m reading I AM WATCHING a murder thriller set in the UK in a village at Hadrian’s Wall, and have Jody Shields novel THE WINTER STATION, set in Russia, waiting in the wings. (Both discovered at the Dollar Tree – such a great place for books!). With garden chores a little slower now – thanks to a nice rain on Monday – I can enjoy more reading time!
Love the dress – must be popular as it’s almost sold out in most sizes! I’m now in lots of linen – cropped pants, loose tops etc., today it will reach 95F. My b/w print caftan may come out of storage for this evening – whew it’s going to be a hot one! A favorite easy, sheet pan supper – Shawarma-Spiced Halloumi cheese with roasted sweet potatoes and grape tomatoes – salad alongside.
Your dinner guests must have swooned over your food offerings dear – you really are such an amazing cook/baker. Roasting blueberries sounds different – and such healthy berries.
    Stay cool – Mary x
