Good morning friends, I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. We worked all day Saturday at the house and then in the morning on Sunday. The afternoon was spent with my brother and his family. My brother and I have not lived in the same place for over 25 years and most of our time spent together in the past was either traveling together in Europe or at “home” for the holidays. It has been a treat to be part of my niece and nephews “everyday life”, going to their birthday parties, spending time at the pool, shopping with my niece for the day or playing croquet at the club.
I am savoring all of the summer fresh fruits and vegetables and have been to the farmers market several times over the past few weeks. I have eaten so many cherries in the last few days I might just turn into one but the season is so short I have to enjoy them while I can. Have you been enjoying summers bounty? What is your favorite fruit or vegetable from the market?
The house is inching along. Over the last month they removed the popcorn ceilings and then painted them. This week the master bedroom suite is getting painted and the carpets will be laid Thursday. Our mattress delivery has been delayed another week, hopefully this is the last delay and by August I will be sleeping in my new bed.
We met with a kitchen designer and have a preliminary design, and will be meeting with another one next week. The news is the same everywhere, delays for cabinets, in some cases 6-8 months and 6-12 months for appliances, everyone is over extended and cannot get workers and both general contractors we spoke to said they are a year out on projects.
Once the master bedroom is finished I can finally unpack our clothes and also move some of the furniture into that side of the house. For those of you that have asked I will put together a post on the house and what we are doing, to put it simply we are basically remodeling the entire house, new bathrooms, expanding the kitchen, new floors, new landscaping, paint, etc but we are not gutting the house to the studs. We are working within the existing footprint and walls, except for the kitchen.
I read this book yesterday and I loved it! It is the perfect book for the beach. Have you any book recommendations? If so please share because I am always looking for something to read.
Have a great day and don’t forget to come back tomorrow and I will share my cherry scone recipe that I made this weekend.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear about delays. I know the transformation will be beautiful. I understand the waiting and time issues! Our remodels are small in comparison and they truly work on your patience and stamina. So wonderful that you are around family now. Priceless.
Elizabeth says
Thank you Leslie! I am looking forward to catching up with you.
William Kendall says
That’s a lot of work.
Elizabeth says
It is. Have a great day William.

I love cherries but they don’t grow here so the ones we get are all imported from Italy. My favourite summer fruits are probably peaches and grapes.
Elizabeth says
Lorna, I love peaches! Summer fruits are the best. I hope that you are having a wonderful summer and staying safe.
Dee Turk says
Sweet Elizabeth, your home is just going to have your own imprint upon it and will be so incredible when it’s all finished. I will be looking forward to the progress, it’s so sad that things are so delayed, but I pray that at least you’ll be able to sleep in your own bed sooner rather than later! What a blessing for you to be near your brother and experience life with his family. What is the kind of thing that truly brings tears to my eyes! Hugs and lots of love
Elizabeth says
Thank you Dee for your kindness and encouragement I am hoping that by next week I will be in my bed if not at least I will be in my room with some of my stuff.
The best part of the movie is being with my brother and family all of the rest doesn’t matter.

The cherries look delicious! I’m not going out anywhere I don’t have to right now. Yesterday outside it was 119 degrees. My car is old and the last thing I need is for it to break down. I’ve heard building materials are high right now. Be glad to see your new home. Enjoy that close-by family!
