Good morning friends and a happy Friday morning to you. Did you have a nice week? Was it a 4 day work week for you? Between appointments, and work it seemed like my week started off busy and never slowed down. I am hoping to relax a little bit this weekend starting this evening with a good book and pizza for dinner.
What are your plans for the weekend? Perhaps picking apples or visiting the pumpkin farm? I am going to make caramel apples and I am experimenting with a new pie, I will let you know how it turns out.
I hope you enjoy my favorites from this week, there is definitely something for everyone.

Stanley Tucci Taste Pinecones and Acorns
“Taste is a reflection on the intersection of food and life, filled with anecdotes about his growing up in Westchester, New York; preparing for and shooting the foodie films Big Night and Julie & Julia; falling in love over dinner; and teaming up with his wife to create meals for a multitude of children. Each morsel of this gastronomic journey through good times and bad, five-star meals and burned dishes, is as heartfelt and delicious as the last.”

If you are new here I have been sharing 2 children’s Christmas books a week that you could add to your kids Christmas library and the 25 days before Christmas read one book a night. I realize that books are pricy and that is why I am telling you about them now so that you can find them at the library, thrift stores and more.

Van Amsterdam the baker was well known for his honesty as well as for his fine Saint Nicholas cookies. He always gave his customers exactly what they paid for — not more and not less. This sweater from JCrew looks so comfortable. It is on sale this week for 40% off.

Green Puffer Jacket Pinecones and Acorns

The city puffer is also on sale too!

Ralph Lauren black watch plaid quilted coat pinecones and acorns
By the way, a few weeks ago I shared this blue quilted coat from Ralph Lauren and this black watch plaid quilted jacket. I ordered them both for Fall and winter and I am here to give you my honest opinion on them just in case you wanted one for yourself.
I love the plaid pattern but I am not “in love” with all of the gold buttons, they are everywhere. The size is great, I have a small and it fits well but I will tell you that it is thin, this is a jacket and it is not going to keep you very warm unless you are wearing something like a cashmere sweater.
As for the blue one, I love the cut, the color and the style, it is a classic. Again, this is a jacket not a winter coat.
Pin Me for Later
Have a great weekend my friends. Thank you for coming to visit Pinecones and Acorns!

Great post and so many good book suggestions. Love the Christmas books I would enjoy them.
Love the plaid bowl too.
Thanks for the link to the article about true crime. I lost my taste for it when I knew someone who was murdered and people started talking about it on Reddit. It really hit home to me that so many victims aren’t seen as actual people, but as mysteries to be “solved” by armchair detectives.
Amy, I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how traumatic it is to loose someone and then have people discuss it. Thank you for your comments.
Happy Weekend, Elizabeth! Your soup looks out of this world good, and I am ready for soup to be on repeat…thank you for being a great example and nudging me to that realization. Your pumpkin bread also looks so tempting to try – I know I would love it in spite of not being a fan of pumpkin. I want to read the Stanley Tucci book – loved his series and felt as though we all got to travel with him to Italy. The things he chose to do there are just what I would want to do! Wishing you a blessed October, friend. Thank you for the warmth shared here – we are in such short supply. xox
I so much enjoy your Friday posts. I’m off to read all of the tabs I now have open on my computer.
Thank you Paula. I love reading and always find things I think are interesting and hope my readers will to.
Elizabeth, did you once link to a basket that’s suitable for throw blankets? I have a ton of blankets and want to have them in a big basket and I thought you recommended one at one point – thanks! (I may be imagining this).
Hi Amy, I cannot remember if I did but the basket shown in this photo of tartan blanket was vintage and it did not fit too many. I actually have 4 vintage wicker chests that I store blankets in. We have 3 dachshunds and tons of blankets for them and we store them in a chest and then we also have a wicker chest for the down blankets/throws that I and the guests like to use. I will see if I can find any large baskets online and let you know. I have seen several nice baskets at TJmaxx and Marshalls.
Thanks, will check TJ and Marshalls and also antique stores for wicker chests, which is a solution I really like.
IT is a great time to start looking.Look online at Invaluable for auctions.
Chicken cauliflower soup sounds good.
I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Any kind of soup sounds good! It finally cooled off the last couple of days. Interesting article about true crime. Will check out the others over the weekend.
