Good morning friends, happy Presidents day? Are you off work and school today? Did you have a nice weekend? I had a busy weekend, I had a list of things to do and I spent the weekend ticking them off one by one. Of course everything took longer than it should because once you start to do a project, like organizing a drawer or a closet, you always end up with a pile of displaced items that now need a home, so you have to go organize a new place for them which adds an additional project to the list.
It was a beautiful sunny weekend, cool but still nice enough to sit on the front porch in the afternoon and look at the new plants in the front beds. The front beds are not finished yet, we have to wait 2-3 weeks for the rest of the plants( peonies, creeping fig) which were not ready yet at the greenhouse. The front beds, 6 trees in the side yard, new irrigation in the front and back yard and a fence were part of Phase 1. Our house has had 5 owners and they all put their own stamp on the landscaping, some of it good and some bad so without completely starting from scratch we are working with the existing landscape in certain areas and in others it is all coming out.
I’ve been thinking lately about everyday moments that I savor and love; my morning hot chocolate, time writing in my journal, and my afternoon ride on my Peleton to name just a few. I wake up in the morning and before I hop out of bed I grab my journal. I set the tone for the day by writing my intentions, my goals and what I am grateful for. This is actually something that I started fairly recently and I have found that it has completely changed my day by doing it in the morning instead of before bed.
Another thing I love is to see the sunrise from my front door, it is so beautiful through the pines and it always puts a smile on my face.
My hot chocolate is like an elixir; picking out the cup that suits my mood each morning, and deciding what chocolate and spices I want to use each day, then holding the warm mug as I take the first sweet sip brings me so much joy.
As for my Peleton ride, I am in love! Which is a complete surprise for me because I have never liked spin classes, so when my husband mentioned he wanted a Peleton I said “enjoy”. Now I find myself on that bike every day at 4:00, it is how I decompress from the day and I could not love it more.
Tell me what everyday moments do you enjoy and savor? Making your first cup of coffee? Your morning walk with your pups? Breakfast with your familiar dinner after a long day at work? Time reading or watching your favorite tv show? Life is measured in moments my friends, I hope that you savor them.
Will you be shopping the Presidents day sales? I am trying not to buy anything that I do not need, but I am in love with the entire Famille Rose Dinnerware Collection, so it is going to be hard to resist buying something. You can stock up for Christmas at the Pottery Barn sale and of course this is supposed to be the best time of the year for appliances(hopefully they are not stuck somewhere in the supply chain crisis).
I hope that you have a wonderful day friends, enjoy your day off, the time with your kids and if you are shopping I hope that you find some great deals.
Don’t forget you can also find Pinecones and Acorns on most social media sites, Facebook Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Or you can subscribe to the blog and get the posts in your mailbox.

Good Morning Elizabeth,
Your landscape project is huge. It all sounds so smart and wonderful what you are doing. Having five owners, everyone had a different vision. Now to make it your own and doing a work around with what you currently have is not always easy. I LOVE Peonies and the creeping fig sounds perfect too. I asked my hubby (he is a master gardener) if we could grow Peonies in AZ and his reply was thought I it would be no. It’s okay we can always purchase them at Trader Joe’s when they are in season.
Sunrise from your front door is so peaceful.
Getting on your Peleton is a great way to decompress. Good for you.
I enjoy all my moments with my hubby and connecting with my friends when I can.
Yes, I savor my moments.
Sending Smiles,
Here in Ontario we had a holiday called Family Day. Kind of a made up day off.
William, I have never heard of family day. But I hope you enjoyed your day off. Have a great week.
A busy day to start the week – heading out to a travel conference and FAM trip this weekend. Computer and website issues almost fixed. But coffee helps.
Rosemary, sorry to hear about your computer issues, that is always a pain. Have a wonderful time at the conference, would love to know more about it, is it for work? Enjoy your family trip!
