5 reasons to savor winter and a weekend recap on Monday morning musings.
Good morning friends, did you enjoy your weekend? Ours was very low key, Friday night my niece came over and we made pizza, then we had a little dance party. Saturday and Sunday, it was cold and my husband and I were both working on projects so we never left the house, except to get the mail. It was productive and relaxing.

Monday Musings
Phil the groundhog said that we have 6 more weeks(5 now) of winter last week and I did a happy dance. Admittedly, I do not live where there is 20 inches of snow falling at a time or where winter starts in October and seems to go forever. Although, when I did live in places where that was the case I still loved winter and the slower pace that it brings to life.
I know Instagram, Pinterest and the stores are filled with tulips, daffodils, eggs and more but at my house I am rooted in winter; in fact I have a still have small tree decorated with lights and birds in my living room. I left it out after Christmas to add a little cheer to the house in the early morning and dark evenings.
February is the shortest and the longest month for so many people because once Valentine’s Day is over they think there is nothing to celebrate. But I think if you slow down and live in the month, and in the moment you will finds lots to celebrate. Don’t wish away time my friends, it is the one thing we can never get back.
Here are 5 Simple Pleasures to Savor This Winter
5 Things to Savor About Winter
1.The cold, dark days are the best times to stay inside where it is warm and cosy. You have the perfect excuse to read that pile of books you have on your bedside table, relax and catch up on all of the shows you have recorded, do a puzzle, play games or just watch the snow fall outside and know that you are safely tucked inside and out of the frosty weather.
2. Winter food! Need I say more? Bubbling pots of chili and soups, creamy, cheesy casseroles and mugs of sweet hot chocolate and steaming tea.
3. Woolen mittens, cashmere sweaters, fluffy hats, long winding scarves and all of the other cosy clothes that keep us warm and dry on Winter days.
4. SNOW, the anticipation of snow takes me back to my childhood. Waking up to soft falling flakes that blanket the earth creating a magical winter wonderland that offers the silence and calm that only comes in winter. Not to mention it is the perfect excuse to build a snowman, have a snowball fight, go sledding and to act like a kid.
5. Fresh Air. There is nothing like the crisp, cool air in the winter. No pollen, no pollution, just cool clean air.
Don’t wish away the beauty of winter or of today my friends. Have a wonderful week, I hope that you find something beautiful in your day.
