A little of this, a little of that. Elizabeth Floyd, Toile de Jouy, Blue and White and More…Weekend Meanderings.
Good morning friends! It is time for Weekend Meanderings, I am joining my friends Kim and Juliet to share a few of the things that have caught our attention this week. Speaking of which I hope that you had a good week. Happy Orthodox Easter to you if you are celebrating this Sunday.
Weekend Meanderings
Blue and white is a classic combination and one of my favorites to wear and to decorate with. Here are a few blue and white things that I had my eye on this week.
Elizabeth Floyd
Elizabeth Floyd, a former architect Elizabeth left her job at the age of 35 to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. While there are many of her paintings that I would love to own(everyone in her current exhibition) at this point they are not in my budget. I was lucky enough this week to buy one of her small watercolor paintings(shown above). There are still a few left if you are a blue and white fan.
Mark D.Sikes
I discovered Mark D.Sikes way back in 2015 when in addition to his fabulous blue and white frocks he was a blogger. Did you follow him way back then? He has since gone on to write two books, and enjoy an illustrious career as an interior designer. Last week Kim shared a few of her favorites from Marks’ new collection for Anthropologie and after taking a look at her picks I bought this vase. I think it will be a great for my summer tables, to use on my porch filled with flowers or branches or just alone.
If you would like the Mark D. Sikes look for less this Gap dinnerware is great.
Toile
I love toile de jouy and want to incorporate a little bit of it on the new house, blue and white of course. In the last house I had a beautiful black and white toile room complete with a bed crown and curtains that draped over the bed. This time I will be adding it to the guest bath and I am thinking of this wallpaper. If not there then in the master bedroom and only for the dust ruffle and shams. Right now I am concentrating on the kitchen/laundry room/Carolina room. That is a big project and is supposed to start in late June. I will fill you in on the details soon.
Blue & White Books
Is your mom a blue and white lover? Blue & White and Other Stories by William Yeoward or A Passion for Blue and White would make excellent Mother’s Day Gifts.

Summer Blue & White Fashion From Pinterest
Way back in June 2015 I wrote the post Summer Blue & White Fashion From Pinterest. Since then it has had over 300,000 impressions. 21,900 in this month alone. Just a reminder that classic styles are timeless, a blue blazer and white jeans can be dressed up or down with the addition of wedge sandals, and jewelry.
One more for the road
Blue and white is also a favorite of fellow blogger Tina of The Enchanted Home and you can peruse years and years of blog post filled to the brim with blue and white porcelain and decor. You can also add a touch of it to your house by shopping her store.

In case you missed it.
On the blog this week, I shared 10 dresses from Target Under $35.00! Yes, $35.00 and they are not only beautiful but they are comfortable.
Then yesterday on the blog I shared my Friday Favorites post, delicious recipes, beautiful block print napkins and tableware as well as some fabulous books that you are going to want to add to your besides table or beach bag to read this summer.
I hope that you enjoy Weekend Meanderings. Thank you for spending part of your day with me! Don’t forget to stop by and see what Juliet and Kim are up too! The links are below.

Good morning, Elizabeth! A blue and white lover, I am! Did not know about these two books. Uh oh, I see a book shipment in my (near) future. I’m here in your old stomping grounds and headed out to see those cute penguins at the She’d. Wishing you a beautiful weekend! xo
Love the your art, by the way! xo
HI Elizabeth! That was a lovely piece you acquired! I do love her work. How exciting about your home. LOVE the blue toile you shared. I love toile and have been a fan since way back. I’m glad to see it’s having a resurgence. I hope you share more photos of your home and the progress! I know you have amazing taste. I will order the William Yeoward book, but I think the link isn’t working. I will pop over and read your blue and white post. Sometimes the old posts are the best. I have one like that about packing for Carmel. They got on the Google top early, and stay! I hope you added a bunch of your wonderful links to it.
I’m going to sit down and go through these Target dresses. I think the earlier you snag them the better. The Mark D. Sikes vase you chose was on my radar too. I just had my plates and quilt from him delivered yesterday and I can report the quality is excellent! I love them. I did follow Mark way back too and I miss his blog!
Now a question, what is a Carolina room? ..from a Californian of course!
Have a beautiful weekend.. xox Kim
Have a great weekend.
You too William, I hope that you are feeling better.
What a fun post, love reading your weekend meanderings. I really enjoyed reading about Elizabeth Floyd and Mark D Sikes too – always fun to learn something new.
Elizabeth is amazing! I love every piece that she has done and even more so because she basically quit architecture and self-taught/directed her teaching.
Have an amazing week Chas and thank you for commenting.
That gap dinnerware is calling my name! Darling! I always enjoy all of your pics Elizabeth you always have great finds!
Cindy, you always make my day! Thank you for your kind comments. Have a safe trip home.
Elizabeth,
My twin sister adores blue & white! Her home is all blue & white! The artist, Elizabeth Floyd has not been on my radar, but I do love her work! And that GAP dinnerware! So cute!
xx
Annie, I had not idea that you were a twin! Blue and white is very popular. Elizabeth Floyd is amazing, I would love to own one of her larger paintings, especially from her recent series featuring art books, flowers and blue and white. They are all amazing. The GAP dinnerware is inexpensive and adds a touch of whimsy to the table. I think the set is 50.00. Have a great week Annie, thank you for your comment.
I always enjoy this series. You share great information. Enjoyed reading about Elizabeth Floyd and Mark Sikes. Keeping sharing fun info.
Cindy, thank you! That is so kind of you to say. It is always fun to see what Juliet and Kim are up too.
Blue and white! You’re speaking my language. Sigh! Thank you for sharing all these wonderful finds. I’ll definitely be going to explore them.
Thank you Carol! Have a wonderful week.
