Monday morning musings no. 28 -a busy weekend, a kitchen update and 5 finds.
Good Monday morning friends, I hope that you had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend. The weather has finally cooled off here for a few days, and by that I mean it is 90 instead of 100. But, it has been getting down to the 60’s overnight which makes it feel a wee bit like Fall.
Monday Musings
We had a crazy busy weekend getting ready for the kitchen renovation which starts today! We had to clean and box up the kitchen, living room, and sun room and move it all into the blue room. Then we set up a make-shift kitchen in the guest room.
Almost one year ago we closed on this house and since then we have been working on a kitchen and bathroom(s) gut/remodel. The pandemic, shortage of workers, crazy building boom and many other variables have dragged it out longer than we had hoped.
For now we have put the bathrooms on the back burner because we do not want to have to move into a hotel with 3 dogs for 2-3 months. This project is the kitchen/eating area, laundry room, and the sunroom room and with the state of the house right now, that is enough.
This is the layout of the house currently and the plan for kitchen/laundry/sunroom.
- Closing up the case opening 18″ in the living room to make the adjacent wall in the kitchen longer to hold more cabinets
- The L-shapped peninsula is getting removed, as are all of the cabinets on both sides of kitchen and laundry
- Sink moving from angle to right wall.
- Refrigerator moving to the left side of the kitchen just past the cook-top(it is a vacant space now)
- Next to the refrigerator will be a beverage center/coffee station with pocket doors.
- All the tile floors are being removed in the kitchen/laundry and sun room.
I cannot wait to get started and to see the finished product. For now I will be baking in my Breville convection oven and cooking on a one burner induction cooktop, wish me luck.
