Good Saturday morning to you. Today I am joining Juliet and Kim for our weekly series “Weekend Meanderings” where we share a little of this and a little of that and everything in between. When you finish here pop over and check out all of their weekend favorites as well.
Today I am sharing Nancy Meyers’ house, a kitchen update, the most beaituful bag collaboration from Pamela Munson and Schumacher and a few other tid bits. I hope that you enjoy it!

Home is Where You Are
I love this saying, home is where you are. It is particularly poignant right now because my home these past few weeks has been my bedroom. While I have been working, reading and sitting in this 1/2 finished room away from the dust and noise I see all of the things I love and the things that I want to change or rearrange when the kitchen project is over.
Kitchen Update
It is official the entire house, and I mean the entire house, looks like a moving truck exploded. Ironic because one year ago this weekend it looked exactly the same. There are boxes, art, furniture, appliances and anything else contained in a house piled in and on every surface in every room.
We had a crazy day yesterday. The kitchen flooded when they were putting the finishing touches on the plumbing. There was a little miscommunication and the pipe to pot-filler was not capped before they tested all of the new lines.Consequently, it flooded the kitchen and the closet in my husbands’ office on the other side of the wall.
After we got the kitchen cleaned up a big storm blew up and the rain came down so fast the gutters could not handle the volume. One backed up and we currently have a leak in the kitchen ceiling.
Now, instead of a nice quiet weekend we have 3 industrial fans going 24 hours a day drying out the kitchen and the closet.
There is good news, on Wednesday they are installing the kitchen cabinets and part of the laundry room. The other side of the laundry will have to wait until the washer and dryer show up and after 3 months there is still no ETA.
Remodeling is a lesson in patience at the best of times but more so now. At the rate things are going I will be able to show you a finished kitchen in February. Until then we will wait for the pieces to trickle in.
Honestly, I do not care because I am so excited for the new kitchen and dining area. It already looks and feels so much better and it is a blank slate.
Nancy Meyers
Nancy Meyers is an icon and her interiors even more so because almost everyone wants to live in one of her movie sets, or at least visit one of them. I personally would love to spend a weekend in the cosy English cottage in The Holiday, you might enjoy the living in the house from Somthings’ Gotta Give or the Intern. Or maybe you just like bits and pieces of each place, whatever the case Nancy Meyers and her style appeal to many.
Much like the annual Nordstrom sale(pre-view it here) will be flooding your social media feeds in a few days, this week Nancys’ house has been everywhere! Why? Because after many years she fell out of love with it, decided to build a new house and while she was waiting she redesigned her current house with the help of Mark D. Sikes. Then fell back in love with it, sold the other place and voila her redesigned house is EVERYWHERE. You can read all about it here.
If you want to know more about her iconic interiors this article is great.

Sail to Sable
Are you familiar with Sail to Sable? I love their colorful, classic clothes.
Caftan lovers you might want to add this vibrant red and blue dress to your wardrobe.
Isn’t this blue gingham tunic great?
I know a lot of people do not like pink but I do and this pink and white dress is perfect for summer in my opinion. It looks so comfortable.
You can find dress, sweaters, pj’s and more here and here.
Pamela Munson x Schumacher Collection
Schumacher, creator of beautiful fabrics and wall coverings and Pamela Munson, the straw accessories brand have collaborated on the prettiest collection of straw minaudiéres in iconic Schumacher patterns.
“Our collaboration with heritage brand Schumacher celebrates our love of bold florals, classic design and embroidery. Created by Pamela Munson in collaboration with Schumacher, the collection of six handwoven straw minaudières interprets iconic Schumacher patterns through the lens of embroidery. Each piece is designed in-house, handwoven and inspired by Schumacher florals.”
According to Wikipedia:
A minaudière is a women’s fashion accessory, generally considered a jewellery piece, intended to substitute for an evening bag. A case with compartments, it allows storage for several items in a small space, such as a makeup compact, lipstick, watch, reading glasses, or keys.
The minaudière appeared during the 1930s. Its invention is attributed to Charles Arpels, of Van Cleef & Arpels, but many jewellers and haute couture designers have created their own models.
Each bag is a work of art and a special piece to enjoy for generations. I realize that these beautiful bags are a splurge but they were too pretty not to share.

4th of July
It’s 4th of July weekend and that means for many of us parades, fireworks and lots of food. I shared my 10 favorite barbecue foods last week on weekend meanderings in case you need a recipe for potato salad, coleslaw or salad recipe.
I shared this tomato salad with bacon vinaigrette along with the classic 7 layer salad and a few other party foods on Friday Favorites yesterday.
You will find me by the desserts, especially if you are serving caramel stuffed brownies sprinkled with sea salt.
Or this cake! If you do not have time to make a cake from scratch, use a box mix but please make the buttercream frosting homemade, it doesn’t take long and it is scrumptious. Then top your cake with berries and your have a beautiful treat all of your guests will enjoy.
Here are 24 4th of July desserts just in case you need them.
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW
What do you have planned for the 4th of July? Will you host a pool party and bbq? Or will you go to the beach and frolic in the waves? Share your plans and fun I would love to hear all about it. We are staying in town because…kitchen. But that’s ok because there will still be fireworks, food, and family.
We will be headed to the village for the annual 4th of July pet parade, fireworks and a few other activities. Last year we missed out because of the move but this year we are going to enjoy all of the small town, nostalgic activities.
That is it for weekend meanderings, I hope that you enjoyed the post have a wonderful weekend my friends.

I feel like I’m the last to hear about Nancy Myer’s home in AD! I can’t wait for my issue to arrive. Those bags look vintage…I love them! It would be hard to pick a favorite!

Wow I can’t believe what happened with the water. Such a shame you have to listen to industrial fans.
Great attitude. Remember the prize is a beautiful kitchen waiting.

Elizabeth, so sorry about your kitchen. I can’t believe it. I have lived through a water leak before and had those fans for a week. It is not fun. I’m hoping it’s all worth it and you will have the dream kitchen you hope for. Living in the house also takes patience and right now the supply chain.. Is it really that long a wait for a new washer/dryer? Most people who are buying need them now! So sorry.
Of course we all shared Nancy’s home! And here I was thinking I had a scoop before everyone.. LOL. I also love Mark’s books! The Pamela Munson clutches are beautiful. I especially love the blue one liken the bird wallpaper. Schumacher needs more collars with their gorgeous prints. That book is a treasure and one of my favorites.
Love the tomato recipe! Also I want to try the cake, it looks so cute. I hope you get to enjoy the weaken and your town sounds charming. It’s those little celebrations that make then holiday special. xo

Elizabeth … I’m so sorry. Renovating is not for the faint of heart. Still nothing prepare you for these sort of mishaps. Yikes. Onwards and upwards. I love that all three of us have Nancy Meyers home at the top of our minds. How can we not. Its every bit as amazing as one of her movie sets. I can’t stop looking at the photos. Oh my gosh, those bags … they are exquisite. They’re art. They’re fabulous. And, on that note, we’re headed out for lunch and shopping and I’ll be back later to look at all this beauty all over again. xo

I am so sorry to hear about the flooding at your house. It’s no picnic to have to deal with the aftermath. On a positive note, your kitchen will be amazing when it is finished. Can we talk about that darling pink purse? I like pink too. Those little purses are too pretty.
Wendy McMonigle says
This was an amazing blog post Elizabeth, so much fun to read. I am so sorry about the flood though, ugh!
Remodeling always has a few hiccups for sure.
Hang in there, it will all be worth it.
