A weekend update, holiday decor, a delightful film and so much more on Monday morning musings.
Good morning friends! Did you have a nice weekend? It was very quiet here. Bill was out of town there were no contractors scheduled for the weekend and so the pups and I enjoyed a little solitude. I worked on a few Christmas crafts(yes, it seems early for me too) and recipes, made ice cream and baked a zucchini bread in my little Breville oven. I will share the recipe soon.
It was another hot weekend but I topped off my tan by working in the yard pulling weeds, photographing the mushrooms and picking up pinecones. When you live in “the land of the pines” that in itself is a full time job. Let me know if you need any for your holiday decor I could probably spare a few hundred(s) to mail to you.
Holiday Musings
Last year I made a 36ft pinecone garland for the front of the house, four swags across the porch railings. This year I am thinking of making a garland for around the front door. I also want to make a wreath with vintage silver or vintage transfer ware, if you have any tips for that project let me know as I know that many of you are seasoned wreath makers and this will be my first effort.
Another option is to skip the wreath and use a vintage silver platter and hang greens and cups from it. I found the image above about 6 years ago and have always liked the look.
If you don’t feel like making your own pinecone garland I found this one on Etsy and it would look beautiful on a mantle, table or anywhere else you like.
House Musings
Fingers crossed that today is the day they install the countertops. I am not sure what the delay is but they have cancelled twice and it is starting to worry me. Of course because they cancelled everything else is behind schedule.
On the upside, while in High Point, I found some vintage lights that will be replacing the 5 around the back side of the house and possible dining chairs. This weekend I ordered samples of fabric for the curtains and am now looking for wallpaper for the powder room. Little changes that make a big impact.
Now, onto 5 things!
5 Things
1.A Great Movie!
Last night I watched Perfumes and loved it, I think you will too!
Anne Walberg is a master in perfumes. She creates fragrances and sells her incredible gift to many companies. She is a diva, selfish and temperamental. Guillaume is her new driver and the only one who dares facing her. This is probably why she does not fire him.
