An easy to make, decadent and delicious dulce de leche brownie recipe. These brownies are sure to become a family favorite.
Just in case you are tired of Peeps and Reese’s eggs I thought I would share a mid-week snack or dessert that you will love. Dulce de leche brownies! Dark, decadent fudge brownies swirled with creamy dulce de leche caramel.
Dulce de leche brownies
Everyone has a favorite brownie recipe. Some like fudge brownies some like cake brownies. Others like nuts or chocolate chunks added to the batter, but have you ever added dulce de leche? If not, book mark this recipe because it is scrumptious!
The best part is that these homemade dulce de leche brownies are easy to make, you simply make your brownie batter and swirl in the caramel! If you are pressed for time you can make this recipe using your favorite box brownie mix!
As for the dulce de leche, you can make your own by boiling a can of sweetened condensed milk for a few hours or find a can in any grocery store baking aisle. If you want to make them even more decadent, splurge on a jar of dulce de leche or make it homemade.
When my step-son lived in Argentina I filled my suitcase with it whenever we visited, along with my body weight in alfajore cookies. This is my favorite store bought dulce de leche, it is so delicious you will be eating it by the spoonful.
On a side note, have you ever been to Argentina? Dulce de leche is everywhere! It’s in the ice cream, at McDonald’s, on the breakfast table, in the International Lounge at the Airport. Once when we were visiting Buenos Aries, we went to breakfast at the hotel and there was a punch bowl filled with it to drizzle on your yogurt, toast or whatever else you wanted to eat it on.
Ok, back to the brownies! As I said, they are easy to make and will quickly become your new favorite dessert or treat to make this summer. Add a dollop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with a wee bit more dulce de leche and you have the perfect sundae.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE DULCE DE LECHE BROWNIES
That’s it! It is a pretty simple and straightforward brownie recipe with a swirl of homemade or store-bought caramel.
Note: I frosted my brownies with my favorite frosting recipe. You can skip that and the brownies are still delicious. If you want to make them a little “extra” add the frosting.

Dulce de Leche Brownies
What is better than a gooey fudge brownie? A fudge brownie with swirls of creamy dulce de leche caramel. Decadent dulce de leche brownies will become your new favorite dessert.
- Total Time: 55 minutes
- Yield: 16 brownies
Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with foil and then spray with nonstick baking spray. Set aside. Make sure to leave “handles” with the foil to lift the brownies out of the pan.
Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and cook it at 45 second intervals until melted and smooth, do not overcook. Set the chocolate aside to cool, about 20 minutes.
Add the butter and the sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and cream them together until they are light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
With the mixer on low, slowly add the cooled chocolate until it’s combined. Then add the flour and the vanilla. Mix until it’s combined. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl to be sure it is all mixed together and there are no clumps on the bottom or sides of the bowl.
Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
Next, place 1/2 of the can of dulce de leche in a glass bowl, warm in the microwave for 30- 45 seconds, or until the caramel is a little easier to stir.
Drop spoonfuls of dulce de leche on the top of the brownie batter then use a knife to swirl it through the brownie batter.
Bake the brownies for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the center is almost totally set.
Let the brownies cool in the pan, then cut and enjoy. DO NOT OVER BAKE the brownies, they will continue to cook while they cool.
To make them even more fudgey, top with chocolate frosting.
Notes
I frosted the brownies with Hershey’s perfectly chocolate frosting if you do not want to add frosting skip it and eat them plain.

I can’t eat such a thing right now. My throat is in such a shape that my appetite is low and I’m eating small amounts of bland food.
