The best things in life are free and that includes Christmas gifts. Here are 10 Free gifts to give for Christmas!

Christmas is stressful for so many reasons, including the angst of buying gifts. People think they must spend a lot of money or be extravagant. Today I am going to share 10 gifts for Christmas that are free. Yes, free! They do not cost a penny and you don’t even have to go shopping for them.
This list was printed in the church bulletin at Christmas Eve mass in 2006 and I have saved it ever since. It is a wonderful reminder that the best gifts in life are free.

10 Free Gifts to Give for Christmas
1. The gift of LISTENING
Why not give this gift to someone who lives alone? And you must really listen. No interrupting, no day dreaming, no thinking about your shopping lists. JUST LISTEN.
2. The gift of SIGNS OF AFFECTION
Be generous with your hugs, kisses and gentle squeezes of the hand. Let these tiny actions demonstrate the love inside YOU.
3. The gift of a NOTE
It can be as simple as I love you or as creative as a sonnet. Put your notes where they will surprise a loved one.

4. The gift of LAUGHTER
Just cut out a cartoon, or save a funny article, Your gift will say, “I love to laugh with you.”
5. The gift of a GAME
Offer to play your loved ones’ favorite game. Even if you loose you will still be a winner. Don’t like games, do a puzzle!
6. The gift of a FAVOR
Help with the dishes, clean out the basement, sort paper work, help with taxes etc.

7. The gift of a CHEERFUL DISPOSITION

8. The gift of LEAVING ALONE
There are times in our lives when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Become more sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude.
9. The gift of a COMPLIMENT
A simple, “you look fabulous in blue” or “I like your hair” or “Great dinner honey” can be of the greatest value to those who may feel they are being taken for granted. Don’t forget to compliment yourself.

10. The gift of PRAYER
Pray for those on your Christmas list and let them know that your pray for them. Praying for someone is a way of saying, “you are so special to me that I talk to God about you.”
The Best Gifts in Life Are Free
In a world where we are bombarded with the latest and greatest and the biggest and the best of everything you might not think of these 10 things as gifts. But take a moment, can you remember the last 10 gifts that you received for Christmas, are you still wearing that scarf or using that bowl, did you enjoy the book or use the gift card?
The gifts of time and attention, creating memories are the best gifts of all and something that you will remember for years.
Frankly, I would love any of these gifts, as I am sure that loved ones in your life or perhaps a stranger or two would as well.
Christmas is all that is good in this world, it is a time of peace, magic and love. Why not share a little of that with everyone that you meet?

These are all lovely reminders. My favorite is “you’re so special to me that I talk to God about you”. What a meaningful way to think about this. Thank you!
Diane, that was my favorite too! It is such a lovely sentiment.
HAve a beautiful weekend and a very Merry Christmas.
Hi Elizabeth,
I enjoyed reading, “10 Free Gifts To Give For Christmas.” As the saying goes many of the gifts we receive in life are free and the gift of someone’s time means so much because people I know feel “the time thief.,” so much of the time. Vesting the clock never feels so good.
Katherine. the gift of time is the best gift of all. There are so many distractions today, especially the phone which is a tv, a phone, a computer and of course filled with app that all cause distractions. If you are blessed to be in a room with someone and they are off the phone savor it.
Have a great weekend. Merry Christmas.
What a beautiful, thoughtful, meaningful post, Elizabeth! It encapsulates the holiday spirit perfectly. Thank you so much for sharing it!
