Kate Lewis, artist creates colorful paintings and beautiful illustrations inspired by everyday moments at home and in the garden.

I love art and am drawn to landscapes, still lifes, whimsical and modern pieces as well. Our walls are dotted with original art from friends and family but also artists I have discovered while traveling and on social media. Each piece, no matter the style, fits in our collected home because it is something that speaks to our souls. Years ago I came across Kate Lewis and loved her bright and colorful work, especially her pieces that include books. Her touches of whimsy and abstract art drew me in and down a rabbit hole. Although I do not own a Kate Lewis original I now own both of the books that she illustrated, including the latest The Secret Garden.
Today my friend Michele from Hello Lovely and I are each sharing an artist that we admire. I am excited to introduce you to Kate Lewis and to meet Betsy Eby the artist that Michele will be featuring.
Kate Lewis~Artist & Illustrator

Kate began her artistic career at a young age and in fact won an award at the county fair at the age of one. From there she attended Presbyterian College in SC and studied painting. Then she earned a Masters in Museum Education at the Art Institute of Chicago.
For many year she shared the gift of her knowledge and taught and wrote the curriculum for visitors at the Art Institute of Chicago. The world renown collection includes the work of Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Georges Seurat, Marc Chagall, Andy Warhol and many more artists that I am sure you will recognize.
Although she enjoyed her time teaching she always felt the call to create her own work. Kate set up a home studio to do just that and to be at home while raising her 4 children. Her work is inspired by everyday moments at home and in the garden.

Kate Lewis Paintings
Kates’ painting are in private collections around the world and can be in yours as well. She sells her original pieces and prints on her website.

Some of my favorite pieces are from her book series. I love the colorful books and libraries and can imagine myself sitting and enjoying a cup of chocolate while reading one of the books.

Books are not the only thing that Kate paints, she also paints flowers, still lifes, gardens, interiors and so much more. If you are not in the market for an original piece of at at the moment, be sure to check out her prints or books.
