MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 121
Good morning friends! Happy Monday, how was your weekend?
We had a lot of fun this weekend with the Derby, a birthday and Cinco de Mayo. Friday we went to look at slabs of marble and stone for the bathrooms, then we looked at fixtures, tubs, hardware, etc. I could never ever build a house, I have no patience for the endless decisions.
Hats off to Juliet, who has built two houses since I started following Make Mine a Spritzer. Speaking of which, did you hear her news, she and Jim bought a little house in Lafayette, CA her hometown and are currently waiting on the plans for the space. We will all get to follow along as they build another house just as beautiful as Snowberry on Weekend Meanderings.
My sister and brother-in law came over Saturday and we had a few drinks and snacks and then we watched the Derby. Honestly, it seemed a little uneventful, not the race but the announcer/caller of the race. He seemed a little blah or maybe it was just me.
Sunday it rained most of the day. I had a bunch of work to catch up on and my husband spent the day in the kitchen. He loves to cook, as much as I love to bake, and made a Cinco de Mayo feast. We had homemade chili verde, charro beans and Mexican rice with homemade salsa and margaritas. It was delicious!
What about you, what did you do this weekend?
Ok, on to +5 Things.
1. READ~Once Upon A Villa
In this wise, warm-hearted, witty, and LOL hilariously funny true account, New York Timesbestselling author Andrew Kaplan tells what it’s like when he, his wife, and two-year-old son decided to chuck it all and live the fantasy in a villa by the sea in that extraordinary corner of the world – part international café society, part billionaires’ playground, part provincial France – that is the French Riviera.
Whether it’s matching wits with French bureaucracy, searching for the perfect bouillabaisse, encounters with con men, eccentric ex-pats, and Monaco’s royal family, partying with the international set on Onassis’ yacht, playing chess with a philosophical police chief, or adventures and friendships with the rich and famous and the presumably standoffish French, Once Upon a Villa will transport you to a fascinating and shrewdly-observed world that you will savor like your first-morning bite of pain au chocolate.

2.WATCHED~Their Finest
1940, London, the Blitz; with the country’s morale at stake, Catrin, an untried screenwriter, and a makeshift cast and crew, work under fire to make a film to lift the nation’s spirits – and inspire America to join the war. A witty, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her way, and her voice, in the mayhem of war… and the movies!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY
I seem to be gravitating to blue and white lately and today is no different. This effortless outfit of a white tank, white shorts and a blue and white stripe shirt is chic and classic.
All of the pieces are versatile and can be worn with other things in your closet and create endless combinations. You could wear the tank with the skirt I share last week, or the shorts. The shorts are neutral and can be worn with anything in your closet.
Add your sandals, sneakers and a bag and you are ready for the day. Don’t forget your sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.

5. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT~WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Saturday I joined Kim and Juliet for Weekend Meanderings, our weekly series of all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye. I shared, The Royal Greenhouses of Laeken, Cinco de Mayo, mint juleps, tapestry lawns, C. Atherley Geranium Bath and Body. and more on weekend meanderings.
Don’t forget to visit Kim and Juliet as well.
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW
