Monday Musings No. 176

Good Monday morning friends, how was your weekend? It was hot here and something is going on with our HVAC, isn’t that the way it always is? Thankfully we were able to get a friend to look at it, although it is not working perfectly, it is working better.

We were slugs this weekend, although we puttered around the house and accomplished a few things inside and out, for the most part we just tried to stay cool.

Friday we went paddle boarding in the late afternoon, then again Saturday. Sunday we didn’t do anything but go to mass, then while away the afternoon reading. The perfect lazy summer weekend.

This week there is going to be extreme heat for many of us, make sure to hydrate and stay cool

Tell me about your weekend? What did you do? Are you in the midst of the heatwave?

On to +5 Things!

1.Read~The Wandering Season

The Wandering Season book cover.

Unraveling the tangled roots of her family takes her places she never expected.

Veronica Stratton, a specialty food broker with a business on the cusp of brilliant success that would change the trajectory of her life, visits her parents in idyllic Estes Park for Christmas. She’s fresh from a breakup with her longtime boyfriend, so she’s eager to reconnect with her beloved family in the mountains and forget about her troubles for a few days. But with the holiday comes a DNA test from her younger sister that confirms her secret suspicions: she’s adopted. Having the truth out in the open leaves her feeling unmoored in ways she didn’t anticipate.

With so much of her life in upheaval, Veronica is looking for an escape. Inspired by her best friend, she plans to go to Europe to see four of the places listed on her DNA ancestry report. She treks to County Mayo in Ireland; the Dordogne region of France; the countryside of Lombardy in Italy, and Copenhagen, Denmark. She hopes to learn about where her family lived while also making connections for her rapidly expanding business, but she finds that each stop brings her visions of her ancestors that raise more questions than they answer. And among those pressing questions is how charming Irish castle keeper Niall Callahan will fit into her visions for the future.

This skirt with lemons and other summer fruits is one that I found, I paired it with a butter yellow t-shirt which apparently  is the “it color” of summer, my favorite red sandals, a cute tote and a fun perfume called vacation. Basic pieces that will keep you cool and stylish this summer.

  1. Hi Elizabeth,
Too bad about your HAVC acting up. Not a good time for that to occur in the heat of the summer.
We did not do much this weekend. It’s super hot here, since we no longer have our retreat in Oak Creek Canyon/Sedona we tend to hibernate during the long and beyond summer heat.
With what is happening across our country I’ve been feeling off center and “brain drain.” Trying to keep the faith that things will get better.
    Sending you a peaceful week.
