Monday Musings No. 175

Good Monday morning to you friends, I hope that you had a lovely weekend. We had a great weekend. Friday we had cocktails with friends and then an early night. As I mentioned I was wiped out from all of the fun last weekend with my family in town.

Saturday I woke at 5:00 am, it’s so quiet and peaceful and the only sounds are the birds.

Speaking of birds, the 3rd brood of wrens has stared to hatch. Yesterday when I took a peak in the nest there were two fuzzy pink birds ant three blue eggs. Hopefully they will all hatch. According to what I read last year, from the time they hatch(they are wrens) til the time they leave the nest is 8 days. Talk about growing up fast!

I spent the day working on the yard, picking up sticks and pinecones from the last rain storm. Planting bulbs and seedlings into pots and trimming a few shrubs. It wasn’t too hot or sunny, but somehow by the end of the day I managed to have a little sunburn.

Sunday was Father’s Day and the pups showered Bill with cards, gifts, cake and dinner. Not necessarily a totally relaxing weekend but I do feel rested and ready to start the week.

Tell me about your weekend? What did you do? How was your Father’s Day?

On to +5 Things!

1.Read~The Gin Sisters’ Promise

The Gin Sisters Promise book cover with three women with their back to the view on the cover.

I loved this book!

Three estranged sisters. Six months to come back together.

When Georgie, Iris and Nola’s mother died, the sisters made a pact: they would always be there for one another, no matter what.

Now, decades later, they can barely stand to be in the same room. As his health declined, their father came up with a plan to bring them back to one another. He stated in his will that before they can claim their inheritance, they must spend six months living together in the Irish village of Ballycove, and try to repair their broken relationships.

But reunited in their childhood home, old resentments boil over, new secrets threaten to come out and each sister must decide what matters more: their pride, or their family. Can they overcome their past and find a way to love each other once more?

  1. Hi Elizabeth,
I hope all the pink and blue Wren eggs hatch. It must bring smiles to see the eggs.
You had a productive time in the garden. It always feels good to get things done doesn’t it? I’m not a gardener, my husband, Bear is and we both enjoy the fruits of his labor. He does not see it as work like I do. He loves playing in the soil. Our roses are all protected by our sail shades, tops and sides so hopefully they will survive our brutal summer heat in Phoenix.
Thank you for your personal note. I know you put your whole heart into your blog and it shows. In appreciation. I have not had a chance to check out about the guys living in London wanting to move to Tuscany.
