Monday Musings No. 193

Good morning friends, how was your weekend? I hope that it was lovely and relaxing.

Ours was a mixed bag. We live in a village, and while it is charming there are no service stations for our cars among other things.  We drive over an hour away if we need something done. Long story short, we took my Land Rover for service last week, after 3 days they said it was ready. Saturday morning we hopped up and drove 70 minutes to pick up my car, we started the car and the engine light was on.

What? How? You had the car for 3 days, we never brought it in with an engine light on, you worked on it for 3 days and never called to let us know the engine light was on. Further, someone drove the car to us, they failed to notice an engine light on?

Needless to say, they gave us our loaner RR back and now we wait until someone calls tomorrow to let us know the prognosis. Honestly, I am a little irritated that the service department never noticed the light or said anything. What does that say about their service.

After driving back and forth, spending an 1 test driving a few vehicles that are on our list for the “next one” we ran in Costco, then home. By the time we got back, I didn’t feel like doing anything on my to-do list, although I checked off a few things. Then I met my sister at the gym and we sat in the sauna to decompress at chat.

Sunday, we had family over and that was about it. A little relaxing and a little work.

I have a very busy week ahead, lots of end of the year appointments over the next month starting this week with two.

What about you? How was your weekend?

On to +5 Things!

1.Read~Bound

Bound Sally Gunning book cover.

Indentured servant Alice Cole barely remembers when she was not “bound”, first to the Morton family, then to their daughter Nabby—her companion since childhood—when she wed. But Nabby’s new marriage is not happy, and when Alice finds herself torn between her new master and her old friend, she runs away to Boston. There she meets a sympathetic widow named Lyddie Berry and her lawyer companion, Eben Freeman. Impulsively stowing away on their ship to Satucket on Cape Cod, Alice finds employment making cloth with Lyddie. Yet as Alice soon discovers, freedom—as well as gratitude, friendship, and trust—has a price far higher than she ever imagined.

Did you buy anything from the John Derian x Target collaboration? I did manage to get the tray, small dessert plates, and the candle that I wanted for gifts. At 5 am Sunday which is when I woke and went online most was sold out online but available in the stores.

According to an employee at Target, wait a few days and check back online and in the stores. People will start returning the things they purchased and did not like.

  1. Dream trip? It was for us! My husband and I spent two weeds in Scotland, including a 4 night stay on the Royal Scotsman. Just one warning: If you go, it will not satisfy your itch. You will only want to go back again and again. Beautiful country, warm people, and delicious food. On another note, I also have been buying more classic clothing pieces and ditching “trendy” ones. I found that the classics are much easier to mix and match into many outfits. And thanks for a great blog! Love everything about it!

    1. Hello Cathy,
I know what you mean about Scotland. I have been on 3 trips to Scotland all about 10 days -2 weeks, we have explored many party. But never by train. After my first trip I wanted to pack up the house and move there I loved it so much.
As for clothing, I have always been a classic person and my wardrobe reflects that. I have cashmere sweaters and wool plaid pieces that are over 30 years old. The trends do not work for me.
Thank you for sharing and enjoying the blog. I am so happy to hear that.
