Deck the halls with DIY marbled ornaments to match your home and Christmas decor. They make beautiful homemade gifts too!

Last year I saw the most beautiful marbled Christmas ornaments and thought I would try to make my own. But I ran out of time and shelved that project until this past weekend. After trying a few techniques I found an easy, albeit it smelly technique that makes the most beautiful DIY Marbled Christmas ornaments that work with the color scheme of my Christmas tree.
HOW TO MAKE DIY MARBLED ORNAMENTS

MARBLED ORNAMENT SUPPLIES
These DIY marbled ornaments are easy to make do not require a marbling medium or special paint. The best part is that they are made using 2 things that can both be found at The Dollar Tree or local craft store.
- nail polish in different colors and shades
- clear plastic ornaments or glass ornaments, large and small ornaments
- egg carton
- coordinating ribbon or ornament hooks
Marbled Ornament Directions
- Wear a mask and work in a well ventalliated area or outside.
- Start by gathering your supplies.
- Make sure that you have an egg carton or something similar to set the ornaments on to dry
- Remove the tops from the ornaments and set aside for use later
- Shake the snail polish well and remove the brushes.
- Add a small amount of the white nail polish to the inside of the ornament. Then add a little bit of the next color, and then a few more drops of nail polish in another color. I used 3-4 colors in each clear ornament.
- Place a paper towel over the hole and cover with your fingers. Shake the ornament and swirl around the nail polish until the entire inside of the ornament has a marbled effect.
- Once you get a look or a pattern that you like tip the ornament upside down and place it in the egg crate so that the extra paint or polish can drip out.
- Leave the ornaments to dry overnight in a ventilated area, like your garage or even outside.
- Reattach the silver ornament tops and hang on your tree with an ornament hook or coordinating ribbon.
Variation’s
- Use acrylic paint, metallic paints or marbling paint instead of nail polish to create a marbled look.
- Make ornaments with your favorite colors or the exact colors that match your Christmas tree and decor. The color combinations are endless.
- Use a clear glass ornament instead of plastic.

Thank you Katherine. I have to admit, I am not very crafty. I really do not have the patience but for this I decided to give it a try. Thankfully they turned out.
I hope that you are having a lovely holiday season, to is hard to believe it is going to fast.
Elizabeth! These are beautiful and you read my mind … or my google search history. Last week I saw the most beautiful marbled ornaments at the Serena & Lily store. But the store is far away and the ornaments aren’t sold online. It never occurred to me I could make my own … or that the paint is actually on the inside of the ornament, not the outside. You’re so clever and your ornaments are works of art. xo
Juliet, they are SOSOSOS easy to make. As I mentioned, I used nail polish but you can use acrylic paint or marbling paint, whatever you like. Many techniques have the marble on the outside, this method is so much easier.
Make sure to share your ornaments when you make them.
xo
