Monday Musings No. 160

Good morning friends! Did you have a nice weekend? Were you lucky enough to have a little Spring weather or the cold of winter?

Saturday was 73 and the club pool opened, Sunday morning it was about 40 something, in other words it was cold and no where near Spring weather. I don’t mind because as I told my dad, Spring means pollen and I do not like the “green season.”

Saturday morning while rushing around the house I stubbed my pinky toe and sprained it. Part of my foot and toe are black and blue. Not to mention it hurst like the dickens. Hopefully with icing and Advil the pain will go away and I will be back to normal soon.

After “toe gate” we went to High Point to look at occasional chairs for the “blue room” as well as, floors for the bedroom. Our entire house, except 2 rooms has oak floors and as much as I would love to take them out it’s just too much of a pain. We would have to move out of house along with the pups and live in a rental or hotel, the contents of the house moved and stored for a minimum of a month and several other inconveniences. It would not be worth it to us in the end.

We are working with what we have and have oriental rugs in each room and in the halls. That said the two rooms, one office and the master bedroom have carpet and we are taking that out. So we went looking for something to “compliment” the existing floors and to go in a new direction. Some have suggest painted white floors, lime wash floors and a few other things.

I will keep you posted on what we choose.

What about you? How was your weekend?

Next up  5 Things!

1.READ~The Room on Rue Amelie

The Room on Rue Amelie book cover.

When Ruby first marries the dashing Frenchman she meets in a coffee shop, she pictures a life strolling arm in arm along French boulevards, awash in the golden afternoon light. But it’s 1938, and war is looming on the horizon.

Unfortunately, her marriage soon grows cold and bitter, her husband Marcel, distant and secretive—all while the Germans flood into Paris, their sinister swastika flags waving in the breeze. When Marcel is killed, Ruby discovers the secret he’d been hiding—he was a member of the French resistance—and now she is determined to take his place.

She becomes involved in hiding Allied soldiers—including a charming RAF pilot—who have landed in enemy territory. But her skills are ultimately put to the test when she begins concealing her twelve-year-old Jewish neighbor, Charlotte, whose family was rounded up by the Gestapo. Ruby and Charlotte become a little family, but as the German net grows tighter around Paris, and the Americans debate entering the combat, the danger increases. No one is safe.
