I love Advent Calendars, we always had one growing up, did you? Some years we had the little wood ones with the doors that you opened and there were pieces of candy, other years we had wall hanging ones with pockets that had treats in them.A few years ago I gave my grandkids one that is 25 little mittens on a string, they love getting up in the morning and getting their treat as they count down to Christmas. I've only been really aware of advent calendars in more recent years, as it's become commercialized with such things in stores. I imagine it might have been more done in Catholic homes, or possibly other Protestant denominations. My background was Reformed Church, and there wouldn't have been such a thing through that denomination.
