Elevating Everyday & Finding Joy in the Little Things

Happiness Report No.4

Good morning friends! How are you? How is your week going? Are you surviving or thriving? I am doing well although I won’t lie yesterday was challenging. Because of the hurricane we lost power from 7 am until 1 am, and it was a hot, humid and miserable day, but it was sunny so that counts for something.

We live in a neighborhood that all of the power lines are buried and in the 12 years we have lived here we have never ever lost power for more than an hour or two, so for the first couple of hours we didn’t really make any plans or change our days. As the hours ticked by and the sun rose in the sky and the house got hotter and hotter my spirits began to sink. I had a million things to do and no wi-fi, it is the time of Covid and even if there was a coffee shop with power there are limitations on the amount of people inside. My husband was having a stressful day because he had two big projects due and again no wi-fi. Needless to say it was little bit of a change from our normal days.

In addition we had a yard that just the day before was getting re-landscaped and was now a mess from fallen branches and debris.

The great news is that no one was hurt, we had no flooding, our roof wasn’t blown off like our neighbor, and the power came back on in the middle of the night when we couldn’t sleep from the heat and we managed to get a partial nights rest.

We also got a much needed rest from the news, social media and all of our devices. We picked up the yard for exercise, did a few things around the house that had been neglected(like paperwork, and sorting books and magazines) and we had a pizza for dinner and then read by candle light. Aside from being hot it was a happy day.

I hope that you were not too adversely affected by the storm, I know there was a lot of flooding and fallen trees and I wish you a happy day!
