Do you like flowers? I’ve discovered some amazing artists, sculptors, and photographers of flowers and I think you will love their work. Valentine’s Day, Game Day and amazing flower finds today on Weekend Meanderings.
Good Saturday morning friends, today I’m joining my friends Kim of Northern California Style and Juliet of Make Mine a Spritzer to share our Weekend Meanderings.
It is going to be busy over the next few days with the Super Bowl on Sunday and Valentine’s Day on Monday. As I have mentioned numerous times over the years, I am all about the food and the commercials on game day.
Meanderings
Will you be watching the game, going to a party or skipping it? We will be at home where I will be multitasking, reading a book while waiting for the commercials. I haven’t finalized the menu but I will definitely be making the buffalo cauliflower I shared in my Friday Favorites yesterday.

Valentine’s Day Gifts, Treats
As for Valentine’s Day, if you are still on the fence about how to celebrate I have 10 Outside the Box Valentine Day Gifts Ideas for you.
My friend Elizabeth shared her philosophy of regifting from the heart this week. I think if you look around your own home that you will find something that you already own and love that someone else would as well.
The universal language of love is food so why not step into the kitchen and make a special dinner or a sweet treat for your Valentines? This recipe for easy and delicious cupcakes.starts with a box mix.
A heart cake is always a classic and delicious on Valentine’s Day, the great thing about this recipe is that you do not need a special pan, just a 8″ round and an 8″ square pan.

Sculpture
This week I discovered sculptor, Kaori Tatebayashi in Gardenista, her most recent exhibition The Secret Garden is a feast for the eyes. I am also in awe of British watercolor artist Safiyyah Choycha her painting are amazing.
Paper Flower/Mixed Media
Are you familiar with Mary Delany? In 1772, Mary Delany picked up a pair of scissors, and, at the age of seventy-two, created a new art form: mixed-media collage. Over the next decade, Mrs. Delany produced an astonishing 985 botanically correct, breathtaking cut-paper flowers, now housed in the British Museum and referred to as the Flora Delanica.
You can read more about her here or in the books Mrs. Delany A Life and Paper Garden.

I love “the Old Masters” and while scrolling instagram a couple of years ago fell in love with Natasja Sadi of cakeatelieramsterdam her still life flower arrangements made with both real and gum paste flowers are breathtaking. You can find Natasja on Instagram and on her website both linked above. Can you even believe that this is a combination of both real and sugar flowers?

Wow, there is so much to love here! That botanical book is on my list. I will be pretending to watch the SuperBowl and go back and check out all your goodies here instead!!
Thank you Cindy! I always feel the same about your posts! The botanical book looks fabulous! Have a great weekend.
Good morning, Elizabeth … I’ll be watching it all – game, commercials, half time show! And, eating. I just realized I neglected to add a dessert to my SB menu. Oops. I’ll remedy that now! Cupcakes are my faves. Oh my goodness, there are so many beautiful photos and artists in your post … I’m going to take a deeper dive once my little dogs are walked. Happy weekend! xo

Elizabeth, she is an amazing artist. I cannot believer the flowers that she creates from gum paste, and her photographs! Instagram is a funny place, I follow well over 6000 people, I am fascinated with learning and discovering new things.
I’m intrigued with the chili. The bit of chocolate sounds interesting
Cindy, the chili does sound interesting. IT is funny because we always put chocolate in our chili, but I have not tried it with the allspice.
Elizabeth what a fantastic post. Love that Cincinnati chili and I think we may have to try it as and my husband and I have talked about it before it looks like a great recipe. Thank you for sharing about this amazing collage artist I had no idea about her and I can’t wait to go down the rabbit hole and read all this. Hope you enjoy the game day, like you I’m all about eating and commercials. Have a great weekend and thank you for doing this with you and Juliet as always. x Kim
Kim, Mary Delany is very interesting, as soon as I discovered her I immediately ordered every book I could find. I cannot wait to learn more about her. The Cincinnati Chili does look interesting, I have never made it so let me know how you like it. Enjoy the game! Thank you for being a part of this series, it is so fun to see what you and Juliet post.
Hi Elizabeth,
Peonies and cafe latte so beautiful. Peonies are I think my living favorite flower.
LOVE the Perfumed Delight or is it Double Delight rose? Just gorgeous.
The quotes are “spot on.”
The Paper Flower/Mixed Media is amazing. No, I am not familiar with Mary Delang.
I too LOVE Natasj a Sadi, the image you sent is exquisite.
Happy Galentine’s Day to you.
Sending Smiles.
Katherine, peonies are my favorite flower too! I am so excited that our new landscaping will include peonies! I am also going to try to grow the in pots. Hopefully the deer really do not like them. Mary Delany is amazing! I cannot wait to learn more about her. Natasja is…there are really not enough adjectives to describe her talent. Happy Galentine’s day to you too!
Thank you for all of the wonderful links to enjoy!
Thank you Paula, happy Valentines day my friend!
Skyline Chili and Go Bengals!
I’ve never had this chili but it does look interesting. We are tooting for the Bengals too!
We stopped in Cincinnati once at Skyline Chili – it was a bit too cinnamonny for me, but my husband loved it. But it was one of those places you have to go to when in town.
Rosemary, I was wondering about the spices! Thank you for letting me know. I think I would enjoy the cinnamon and allspice but not the spaghetti.
Such a wonderful round up of ideas! I have never tried Cincinnati chili, but am inspired to try it! Thank you for sharing!
