“Spring adds new life and new joy to all that is.” ~Jessica Harrelson
Good Saturday morning friends! It is freezing this morning, not literally, but right now it is about 33. This time of the year the weather is a bit like being on a roller coaster, up and down and up and down and a few loop de loops thrown in for good measure by Mother Nature.
The pine pollen is off the charts, everything is neon green, the cars, the grass, pine straw, me when I go outside and the pups as well. Every time they go out their black coats have a fine layer of green dust. I think I have developed pine allergies. I never had allergies before I moved but when I was at the doctor this past week he told me I have pressure in my ears, drainage in my throat and something else which I cannot remember and now that I am living in a pollen bowl they are really bothering me. If you have seasonal allergies and some tips to treat them please share.
Weekend Meanderings
Today I’m joining my friends Kim of Northern California Style and Juliet of Make Mine a Spritzer to share our weekend roundup so make sure to hop on over to their blogs to see what they are up to this morning.
Spring Flowers
Is there anything better than the scent of hyacinth, and lilac on a cool Spring morning? Or the bobbing heads of fressia, apple blossom? It takes me right back to my childhood home where a beautiful lilac tree grew outside my window, in the spring breeze its branches scratched at my window, almost as if to say “open up and enjoy my beauty.”

The bright colors of spring make me smile and nothing is more beautiful than a flower arrangement to add a bit of the season to your decor. A green cabbage seems to be the perfect vessel because I have been seeing them everywhere. This one from Souther Living is easy to make with a few spring flowers, a jar and a cabbage.
Spring Dresses
In the Spring and summer my go to wardrobe is a tunic or a shirt dress. I love the ease of slipping on a dress, adding a pair of sandals, hat and a bag and I am ready for the day or evening.
These beautiful botanical tunics are perfect for the beach, a day at home or a night out.
This dress comes in several colors and lengths, I like the pink one above and there is a blue and white one that is pretty too.
Colorful Spring Bedroom
Bring a little Spring to your bedroom with colorful pillows, flowers, art and more.
I am in love with this gorgeous bedroom! It is a complete departure from my color palette but it is comfortable, elegant and happy!
The Library of Flowers Perfume
Do you like perfume? I love it and spritz myself each morning after I brush my teeth with whatever scent fits my mood.
In the old days I would spend my summers in France with friends and I always returned home with a suitcase of clothes and perfume. My scent of choice is something fruity, sugary and floral. The Library of Flowers is one of my favorite brands, it is economical and they come out with new scents often. That is one of the great things about perfume you can find a sent to suit any price point. Note: The scent above is sold out, but Honeycomb with notes of sugared fig, ambrosia honey and bee blossom, is another scent that smells like Spring. My other favorite perfume Lollia is on sale this week at Anthropologie!
Spring Fruits, Vegetables, Salads and Dessert
Fresh fruits and colorful vegetables are showing up all over Pinterest and they are almost too pretty to eat.

Isn’t this Spring vegetable platter gorgeous?
I could eat this entire plate of spring potato salad.
Almond Milk Panna Cotta for Two topped with berries in not only delicious but easy to make!
Adding Spring to Your Morning Routine
Is it just me or does a new season call for a new mug for your morning chocolate, cocoa or tea? Truthfully, I have a collection of “happy” cups that I like to drink my morning chocolate from. Some of them are sentimental, a few are vintage(ok many) and some I pick up at TJMaxx and Marshalls and HomeGoods because I smile when I see the designs. Your first cup of coffee, tea or chocolate should be savored so why not drink it from a beautiful cup and saucer or mug?
Mackenzie Childs, known for her black and white pieces has many colorful pieces too, including this mug.
In case you missed it this week, I shared Why it is ok to take.a break. and my favorites from this week, books, recipes, finds and more. You can read all about it on Friday Favorites.
Don’t forget to visit Kim of Northern California Style and Juliet of Make Mine a Spritzer to see what they are up to this morning.
Happy Spring, have a wonderful day and thank you for spending part of your day with me!

Wonderful! My birthday is on the first day of Spring, so needless to say, I am all things Spring. Just a quick fyi that I have tried to get to many of your featured items. So far, any that appear on Etsy only take me to the main page, rather than the items themselves…….
Beth, my apologies. I think it is a glitch with LTK because I used some of these links the other day and they were fine. If there is something(s) that you like I will find the links to help you. Again, I am sorry. Have a great day!
I, too, never had allergies until I moved to North Carolina from the Midwest. The only antihistamine that works for me (and I’ve tried them all!)is chlorpheniramine maleate 4mg which I get over the counter at Walgreens under their brand name Wal-Finate. I’ve also found them at Walmart. I’ve learned that I just need to stay indoors reading and cooking for three weeks every spring. Good luck.
I love this post. I love the dresses, mug, veggie plate, and the bouquets and quotes. Thank you!
Thank you!
Elizabeth, we also have that yellow dust here, some times it is the worst in September. Everything is blanketed by it and I get that scratchy throat for weeks. I grew up here and never had any allergies until the last 5 years or so. Our neighborhood has a lot of these conifers, and we don’t , but they travel far and cover my yard. I hope you get some relief soon. I found doing a neti pot and rinsing my sinuses did give me some relief!
As usual you have so much to love. The cabbage bouquet is fresh idea for a spring centerpiece! I saved the and these yummy platters and the salad! This all helps so much with my Easter planning. The tunic is my favorite look with sandals and these are lovely. Elizabeth you and I must be on the same wavelength on perfume! The sounds like the same things I look for. I am ordering the Library of Flowers from you today! I need something new for spring! You are making me think of my last trip to Europe..I too can back with tons of linen dresses and my favorite perfume from Fragonard called Eau de Vacances, bought in Eze. Oh I am missing overseas travel.. I will enjoy your Friday post later today too. It’s my Saturday afternoon thing. And I need to read about why it’s okay to take a break!
Have a beautiful weekend. Always love doing this with you both. xo Kim
Kim, I am surrounded by Longleaf pines, so lots of yellow/green dust everywhere.
I love the cabbage idea, I cannot wait to make an arrangement out of one. All of the perfumes from The Library of Flowers are fabulous, economical and fun. Have a wonderful week Kim! Loved everything about your Saturday post!xo Elizabeth
I live on the Central Coast of California and also am allergic to pollen and dust. Here below Ventura we get lots of wind and I have found a few things that help my sinus allergies.
One is to use a saline nasal rinse every night, and I make a lemon ginger tea that is a simple recipe: A hunk of ginger root the size of a lemon, 3 lemons, wash, do not peel any thing, chop all in small pieces, and put in a med. pot of water, bring to a boil then simmer for 20 mins. It will keep in the fridge for several days, just add more water and bring to a boil. Sweeten with honey, and drink hot.
I do not like to take Ibuprofen or acetaminophen which all of the O.T.C. remedies have. Hope you feel better soon…..I also vacuum every week and get lots of dust and cat hair.
Joan, your tea is delicious! I have made it several times since Saturday. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I am using nasal spray and it seems to be helping.
Elizabeth! 33 degrees! Yikes! I was complaining about being cold this morning and it was 55. That said the temperatures are all over the place this time of year and it will be in the high 70’s by the afternoon. Your post, like Kim’s, is a visual delight. I could scroll back and forth all day. All the beautiful spring flowers, and veggies … and I’d love to dive into a plate right now. I’m not familiar with the Library of Flowers scent … but the packaging is magnificent and I may order it so it can sit on my vanity and make me happy! Happy Saturday, my friend … what fun it is to join you for this weekend fun! xo
How could I neglect to mention those dresses … breathtaking. They’re what I want to live in this summer. Love! xo
Juliet, the dresses are fabulous! I love the shop that sells them.
Juliet, The Library of Flowers is one of my favorite inexpensive scents on the market. It has great happy packaging and is made by the same company as Lollia, all made by Margot Elena. So excited to be a part of this little group, I always enjoy your post and Kims.
Seasonal allergies have never been an issue for me.
You are lucky William.
I have allergies from when the bulbs show their stems until the first hard frost. I take Zyrtec every night ant it works like charm.
I finally got our Violas and I am so happy!
I have seasonal allergies, plus more. I take an OTC pill called Allergan daily, year round, and use a nasal spray called Flonase for about 8 weeks in the spring and 8 weeks in the fall. The combination keeps the symptoms in check. Good luck finding the best remedy or remedies for you.
Elizabeth,
It’s so cold here too! But I am so ready for all those spring flowers. Love all the floral dresses, the bedroom, and the mug too! Stay cozy!
xx
Thank you Annie! Have a wonderful week!
LOVE PINK AnyTHING!!
