A weekend update, Fall finds under $5.00, a new movie and so much more on Monday morning musings.
Good morning morning friends, did you have a nice weekend? It was a hot, humid rainy weekend so all of our outdoor plans were cancelled. Friday morning we went to a brunch hosted by neighbors. In addition to the wonderful conversation, and delicious food we met a delightful couple that we now have dinner plans with. I also volunteered to be the baker for dinner that is donated to a local women’s shelter once a month. That is right up my alley and I am looking forward to all of the seasonal treats I can create for the women and children who are living there.
Saturday we went in search of a pair of vintage or antique chairs for a corner of the family room. Our family room has a wall of bookshelves and the fireplace and in one corner I want a library table to sit, look at books, play games, etc. We visited several antique stores in Carthage and Cameron and found the perfect pair at our favorite store in Cameron, The Old Hardware store. As the weather was stormy we were able to spend a quiet hour with the owners who have been in this beautiful store for 37 years. They are a fascinating couple and shared tales of many of their favorite pieces and buying trips. Including the one to Maine where they purchased the piece we are using as our kitchen island. We did find a pair of chairs that are perfect, except for the fabric which will be reupholstered.
Sunday we closed out the weekend moving furniture, dusting, unpacking and getting our guest bedroom and office back together and ready for the busy season ahead.
In between the cleaning and shopping I was glued to the tv watching the events in the UK surrounding Queen Elizabeths’ funeral. I cannot imagine what it must be like to grieve in front of millions of people on tv and in person day in and day out at each of the events. At the end of the day the Queen was a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and in the midst of all of the changes they are navigating a world of sadness without her.
Now, onto 5 things.
5 Things
1.Watched

2. Read

3. Fall Finds
Have you started to decorate for Fall? I personally do not buy a lot of new stuff each year for Fall and Halloween. I like to buy things that I can use year after year. This year I found some great for $5.00 in reusable glass jars, I am partial to the little mummy.
I am adding this , and to my wardrobe. This caught my eye as did of which I am in love with.

Happy Almost Fall!
Vintage chair shopping sounds wonderful. Chosing new fabric even better. The plaid dress is beautiful, and will look nice with a turtleneck. Fall decorations begin this week.
