Monday Musings No. 47, a weekend update + 5 Things: what I read, watched, and discovered this weekend and more.
Good Monday morning musings friends. It’s Thanksgiving week! Yikes, how is this possible?
Are you ready? We have the menu planned, the turkey thawing(in the fridge), the platters and bowls labeled and all that is left is to cook the meal and bake the pies. I am trying a new pie crust recipe this year, wish me luck.
Musings
It was a busy weekend. Friday we went to a fun cocktail party, it was just down the street so we were home and in our jammies by 9:30.
Saturday we went to a dinner party with 3 of the 4 couples that we usually hang out with. We had a Mexican feast, homemade enchiladas, a hatch chili rice dish, homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and of course margaritas. It was fun to sit, visit, and relax before a busy holiday weekend.
Sunday we were supposed to go to the Festival of the Trees but I was too tired. Not to mention that I had a huge mess to clean up in my bedroom. A few days ago I took every thing out of the closet to organize it and to nudge my husband to install my new shelves. Mission accomplished, the shelves are in and everything, well not everything, is back in and organized. Three bags are ready to go to the thrift store.
The house is almost decorated for Christmas. I finished the pinecone garland that is swaged across the front porch, I shared a video on Instagram if you would like to see it. Then I decorated the mini trees in vintage olive buckets on the front porch with dried oranges, berries and pinecones. All that is left inside is one small 3 ft tree in the living room, I have to add the ornaments and we are ready for the guests.
That’s it for me, now onto 5 things.

A lively tour of New York’s book world, populated by an assortment of obsessives, intellects, eccentrics and dreamers, past and present: from the Park Avenue Armory’s annual Antiquarian Book Fair, where original editions can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars, to the Strand and Argosy bookstores, still standing against all odds.

An uplifting novel of friendship, the festive season, and risking everything for the biggest gift of all…
It was supposed to be Christy Sullivan’s perfect Christmas escape – a dream trip to Lapland with her family and best friend, Alix. But facing a make-or-break marriage crisis, Christy desperately needs time alone with her husband, Seb. Her solution? Alix, along with Seb’s oldest friend, Zac, can take Christy’s daughter on the planned Lapland trip, and they will all reunite there for Christmas Day. After all, what are friends for?
There’s nothing Alix won’t do for Christy, but Christy’s plan to save Christmas is testing their friendship. Especially as Alix and Zac have a difficult history of their own.
As long-held secrets unravel, and unexpected romance shines under the Northern Lights, can Christy and Alix find the courage to fight for the relationships they really want? And could this Christmas escape save the precious gift of each other’s friendship?

Happy Thanksgiving!
I love Anthropologie but a lot of their items area bit too expensive. We will start decorating for Christmas this weekend as we wanted to get Thanksgiving out of the way first. I can’t wait because I love Christmas.
Lorna, Anthropologie does have beautiful pieces. Many are a better deal when on sale. Looking forward to seeing your holiday decor.
