Monday Musings No. 46, a weekend update + 5 Things: what I read, watched, and discovered  this weekend and more.

Good Monday morning musings friends. How was your weekend? One day it was hot, humid and rainy and the next day it felt like winter here.

Thanksgiving is sneaking up on us friends, are you ready? It is just 10 days away, have you thought about your menu, aside from the turkey? If you need a little help, this article states that you can make a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner with just 20 ingredients.

Weekend Update

This weekend was my 56th birthday, thank you for all of your lovely comments, messages and emails I read and loved them all. To answer one query, no I do not feel any older and there was no angst about aging. As I said on Saturday, I still feel like I am 28, although some days my joints don’t.

Friday we had friends for dinner. My husband loves to cook so he made steak au poivre, frites and a green salad.  I didn’t make my favorite birthday cake this year, I made apple crisp instead.

Let me clarify, I made the cake last weekend when we went to the bon fire as we were celebrating three birthdays so there was defiantly a cake to mark the day.

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday was my actual birthday and I was showered with love and messages from my family, my pups and my husband. I was served hot chocolate in bed along with my cards and present. The rest of the day was spent on a leisurely walk, drinks out and dinner and then the movie of my choice. I chose The Holiday, my first Christmas movie of the season.

I wish I could say that Sunday was just as fun but I was working in my garage. Sorting 20 plus years of Christmas decorations and weeding them out isn’t exactly a party.  We have decorations from my family, my husbands family and the things that I have accumulated, it is just too much.

Last week we boxed up the nativity scene that my mother-in-law made over 60 years ago and sent it to my step-son and his family. It is a treasured part of Christmas but it was time to pass it on. The crate arrived yesterday, sadly a camel lost it leg and one of the three kings lost a head. They were clean breaks and will be easy to repair.

That’s it for me, now onto 5 things.

Eight Perfect Hours

In this romantic and heartwarming novel, two strangers meet in chance circumstances during a blizzard and spend one perfect evening together, thinking they’ll never see each other again. But fate seems to have different plans. From the acclaimed author of the “swoon-worthy…rom-com” (The Washington Post)  I LOVED her last book, Dear Emmie Blue.
