Before you make resolutions for the coming year, take a moment to reflect back on the last year and ask yourself a few questions.
New Years Eve Reflection Questions to Ask Yourself
The end of the year is upon us and traditionally this is the time that people think about changes in their lives, lifestyle, health, job, etc. Loosing what seems like two years to Covid changed my life and priorities have shifted; things, possessions, and goals that in the past seemed important to me are not any longer. Add in aging and accumulated wisdom and lessons that come with it and I see the world in a new way.
Resolutions are something that I made when I was younger and like most everyone else after a few weeks gave up on.
Instead as I reflect back on 2022 I have been asking myself a few questions. What do I want? Where do I want to go this year? Physically and mentally. Who do I want to be? Is there a change in my life, or lifestyle that I want to make? What is important to me? Is there something in my life that no longer serves me?

How to Use the Reflection Questions
It is important to pause and reflect on the year before moving on. Taking the time to do this helps us to see what is working in our lives and what isn’t.
We can see what we learned and what we want to learn in the feature. Are there places in our lives where we want to grow spiritually, mentally, or in relationships.
Maybe this was annus horribilis ~”horrible year” or an annus mirabilis, “wonderful year”, what would you change? How can you make it better?
Perhaps there are people, places and things that we want to forget and leave in the past.
You can answer all of the 25 questions, or pick and choose a few to answer. If you don’t like these questions, you could sit down and write your own list. This list is a reflection of you and your life.
Then take some time and write down your answers. Keep the list and the answers in your notebook, journal or agenda and look back and them every few weeks to see if your are on course for your goals.
If pen and paper are not your things try one of these 15 journaling apps.

Great post! Have a wonderful New Year’s Eve. I’ll ring in the new year on my sofa sound asleep.
These questions are inspiring, thanks for sharing.
I originally came to your blog for a recipe, via a link in another blog (I can’t remember which one). I’ve kept coming back because you have an interesting take on a bit of this and a bit of that – I agree, hard to categorize. I’m not much of a cook but I’ve found a few good recipes here, a few things to buy that I would not have found on my own (usually plaid), links to interesting articles, etc. I’m all for you continuing the way you are.
Interesting, you should ask these questions this morning. I am not any of those niches specifically either. I missed that ‘lifestyle’ isn’t a niche any more. I blog about a little of this and that. Why do I read yours? I like your insights and the way you write and what you write about. Your list of to buy is always a plus. I like that your blog is different in that it give me a break from others who I like and enjoy reading and the ideas. I’m probably not all that helpful! Happy New Year!
Lots to digest and think about. Thanks for sharing. I say BS on no lifestyle blog. Keep doing what you are doing! Happy New Year. The only time I’m awake til midnight is when I’m trying to finish a post
I like everything about your blog because it has a little bit of this and that-recipes, books, things you’ve bought or liked. I like your aesthetic and taste. But most of all I like the articles you post on Fridays. They are from many different sources and I find them thought-provoking. I will be doing some remodeling this year and am interested in reading about your home projects.
So many great questions to inspire reflection. Thank you for sharing! I hope you enjoy your night in with some delicious cocktails. <3 Happy New Year, friend!
I love you being you. I consider you a friend and a fellow blogger and I feel like I’ve known you for a long time. I never stay up until midnight and don’t really celebrate. I know that’s not a surprise. You have given yourself the gift of a new home. And I know that’s one thing you’d been aiming for for a few years. So that objective can be ticked off your list.

WHO SAYS THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A LIFESTYLE BLOGGER?
GOOGLE?!!
THIS WAS A GOOD POST ONE OF YOUR BEST AS I ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS AS I READ THEM………
IT WAS EASY FOR ME!
THE BLOGS THAT ARE BORING ARE THE ONES THAT HAVE a TEMPLATE shall we say and they” fill in the blank each and every time!” A lot of those blogs REPEAT the same THINGS EACH SEASON YEAR AFTER YEAR……..
There is NO HEART AND SOUL IN THEM!I find them VERY REPETITIVE and when you have been reading for years……………..well it gets uninteresting.
I am at an AGE where I have done my home.I don’t bake much as I am Gluten Free and I have been told by my FUNCTIONAL DOCTOR not to EAT GF ITEMS as there is MORE CRAP IN THOSE ITEMS THAT ARENOT HEALTHY.Recipes are interesting to me as I am always looking for something new to cook!Animals of course as they are MANS BEST FRIENDS!A bit of fashion if it is DIFFERENT from what we see day in and day out!
Honestly I do not know how the designers are going to stay in business as I see the same things on people all the time! One last comment On Instagram this year and I do not recall who but the family was all in black and Grey from the Granny down very very casual……………MADE ME SAD!Thats your CHRISTMAS CARD?NO hat no dash of RED no interest what so ever……….for us who do not know YOU.I know I have different EXPECTATIONS but I think if WE HAD MORE FUN AS A SOCIETY WE WOULD BE IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE WORLDWIDE!
ADD color be more SPONTANEOUS!
THATS MY WORD FOR THE NEW YEAR SPONTANEOUS!
I ALWAYS PICK A WORD!!
HAPPY HAPPY EVERYTHING!

I love these questions! My favorite part of your blog is your Friday post. I love how you post interesting articles to read and other things to pay attention to. I also love your recipes and how you share wonderful rooms to look at.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
Great post! Make the most you can of your life so you don’t have regrets down the road. I especially appreciated what you said about “no rush to shove Christmas in a closet.” Happy New Year!
Lynda, thank you! Enjoy life, that is what it is all about. If you are a person that doesn’t like your tree up after Christmas put it away conversely, if you are a person that likes to leave it up until February leave it up. There should not be judgement from everyone about our lives.
Have a wonderful day and a very Happy New Year.
