WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good morning and a happy Saturday to you! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.
I am bleary eyed this morning and a wee bit tired. We went to the village tree lighting and a party last night. Although we didn’t stay late it was past my normal bed time.
Today we have some Christmas fun on the schedule and then I will be doing a little baking. I made 9 different cookie doughs this week and they are waiting in the fridge to be baked.
What are your plans for the weekend?
Ok, on to weekend meanderings. Pour yourself a coffee, tea or chocolate and settle in because I have lots to share.
One to Follow~Vibeke Design

Vibeke Svenningsen is the stylist, photographer and Norwegian designer behind Vibeke Design. For years she wrote a blog by the same name.
Now she writes, bakes, cooks, creates, gardens and photographs as well as sharing her life on Home & Cottage and Instagram. I’ve haven’t figured out a way to translate the site yet but I still enjoy all of the beautiful photos!

Vibeke is inspired by nature and often showcases her house which she built with her husband and her garden in all seasons. Every post is like a magazine photoshoot.
Although I love all of her posts, I am partial to Christmas. Vibeke makes these beautiful gingerbread houses and gingerbread men as well as all of her ornaments, wreaths, and decor.

If you cozy collected design, gardens, vintage pieces, natural elements and all things Scandinavia, Viebeke is one to follow.
Follow Vibeke on Instagram, Facebook and at Home & Garden.
Add a Little “Bling” to Your Holiday Decor

This week Kim, Juliet and I shared our love of vintage brooches. A little bling to add to your outfits, coats, hats and whatever else you are wearing.
But bling is not just for your wardrobe, it is for your house too! Years ago, my mother-in-law Betty gave me this beautiful Christmas tree that she made in the early 1960’s with vintage jewelry.

Apparently, it was a crafty thing that she and her friends got together and made. They also did needlepoint, ceramics and all sorts of beautiful things. We also inherited the handmade and hand painted painted nativity that she made, I think it was 25 pieces. We passed it on last year to our son and his family.

Although this tree is unlike anything else in my holiday decor I treasure it and bring it out every year. This year I have it in the bedroom but I did not have time to take photos(these photos are from last year).
Have you ever seen one of these vintage jewelry trees?? Do you have one or have you made one.
These interesting pieces are still made today and can be costly if you buy them. You could make your own though. This is a great tutorial as is this one.
Olympia Le Tan

I’ve been a fan of the Olympia Le Tan Book Clutch for years but not so much the price. They are beautiful handmade, one of a kind, embroidered bags that resemble book covers. They just released The Christmas Carol for the holidays.
Recently, while perusing Etsy I discovered a few book clutches that are almost as beautiful and have a much better price. If you have a book lover in your life this might be the perfect Christmas gift. I am partial to the Nutcracker and Miracle on 34th Street for the holidays.

Thank you for sharing Vibeke Svenningsen. She is new to me. What a find! If you two finger tap the page on Home and Cottage the option to translate to English pops up and it is very charming. Love the jewelry trees too and may have some of my mother’s jewelry that would be perfect. Thank you and merry merry.
Didi, THANK YOU! I will try the double tap to translate the page. I love Vibeke, she is so talented.
There are so many beautiful jewelry trees and it is a charming way to save a piece of your family jewelry and memories.
Have a wonderful day.
Hi Elizabeth,
The beautiful Christmas vintage tree that your mother-in-law made is beautiful. What a
wonderful treasure for you both to have.
Where do I send snail mail to?
Happy Saturday friend, I am jealous that you are in the kitchen baking today. I have been down and out with a virus and I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel yet. Hopefully soon. And thank you for sharing Vibeke with us, what a treasure. I cant wait to scroll through her account. Happy baking.
I follow Vibeke on Instagram. She takes beautiful photos. I love the jewelry tree! I’ve seen them on Pinterest, but the one you have is so pretty! I know you cherish it.

Hi Elizabeth! 9 cookie doughs?!!! Oh my gosh! How do you do it all. I need to make one and it feels overwhelming. 🙂 I love your vintage jewelry tree … what a treasure and how special to have it on display in your holiday home. Not surprisingly, I’m a fan of the book clutch. Hope you have a great weekend and happy baking! xo
