Diane von Furstenberg for Target, TLD Designs, Truman Capote and more on Weekend Meanderings.
WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good Saturday morning to you friends. How was your week? Today I am joining my friends Kim and Juliet for Weekend Meandering. Our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye.
It was another odd weather, I won’t comment further because I am starting to sound like a broken record. My new gardenias are sitting in the foyer where it is toasty warm waiting to be planted. In addition to that I ordered some wild flower seeds for my meadow, a few hellebores and some Walkers Catmint to line the stone path to the backyard. The flowers for my containers I will wait to buy at my local nursery. Have you ordered any plants or seeds yet?
The daffodils are up and all over the neighborhood there are flowering pink blossoms on the trees. It is starting to look like Spring. I am going to savor every minute because it will soon be pollen season and everything will be covered in green dust.
Ok, enough of the weather report and my garden updates, let’s meander.

Are you watching Feud: Capote vs. The Swans?
Most everyone knows American novelist, screenwriter, playwright and actor, Truman Capote, and if you don’t you surely have read or watched the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s his most famous book.
But who were the Swans you ask? The were a group of wealthy socialite women that we named the Swans, including Babe Paley, Lee Radziwill, Slim Keith, Ann Woodward, C.Z.Guest, Gloria Guinness, Marella Agnelli, and Pamela Harriman.
If you want know more about the celebrated Swans, I have put together a few books that you might enjoy. I will be honest, I am familiar with Babe Paley, Lee Radziwill, C.Z. Guest and Slim Keith and have read about them over the years but do not know much about the rest. You can read more about Slim Keith in this post Kim wrote years ago when she first started her blog.

Elizabeth, This spring weather is messing with our gardening isn’t it? As soon as I get something put out, more rains come. We finally have sun this weekend and I hope you do. I love all the daffodils here too.
I was lucky to meet Diane a few years ago when she had a pop-up in our local town of Los Altos! She gave a little talk and then helped each of us who were trying on her dresses. She could not be sweeter. I bought a leopard print silk dress and it’s one of the nicest made things I have. I can’t wait to check out this collection.
I am watching the Swans mini-series and Capote seems so awful. Yikes. I had no idea I’d hate him so. Thank you for sharing my Slim Keith piece! Gosh that was ages ago, when blogging was so new.
I love your green outfit and those sandals are so good! Perfect for Easter or travel.
I have never heard of sour dough chocolate chip muffins, but they sound delicious. Maybe it’s the Californian in me, but I think sour dough added to anything makes it better!
Have a beautiful weekend Elizabeth! xo

I’d love to share a book with you!
The Women, by Kristin Hannah.
This one is about a young woman who serves in the Army as a nurse during the Vietnam war. The story moves along after the war too. The difficulty Vietnam vets had, and how women weren’t ever acknowledged as having served. It’s very moving.
The subject is very personal for me, as my Dad was a career Naval officer. He served for the entire length of the war, mostly on an aircraft carrier. He was gone for a total of 5 years of my childhood. He and my Mom both lost friends. Several people he knew were shot down and became prisoners of war.
Still, being on a ship in the navy was far different from being on the ground, in the Army. Such a difficult time in our history.
Luckily, Kristin Hannah is so readable, and friendships and relationships are at the heart of her books.
Thanks for letting me share. When I read something really good, I want everyone to read it too!

Happy Saturday, Elizabeth! I love lamenting the weather … and it’s such an odd time of year. Spring is in the air yet it’s still very much winter. And you’re right, before we know it pollen will be everywhere. Ha! I’m so excited for the Target x Diane von Furstenberg collab … thanks for tipping us off so we can be prepared. It will probably sell out fast. I had one DVF wrap dress … that I only recently – and reluctantly – let go. Tiffany Leigh Design is right up my alley. Love the moodiness of her photographs … I’m in a curl-up-on-the-couch sort of mood which is perfect for a deeper dive. Enjoy the weekend! xo

Fair warning about Walkers Catmint. It gets very wide…like about 2 feet wide or wider depending on the location! I bought two plants years ago and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken divisions off of it to plant in other spots or to give away. I love it and so do the bees!
I’ve been watching The Feud and am tiring of Truman. His voice and personality are both irritating but I can’t seem to look away. I don’t think I ever want to hear another thing about him after this is over. I’ve never read any of his books, have you?

I can’t believe I missed that collaboration at target! They usually sell out so fast!
