MONDAY MUSINGS NO.111
Good morning friends! How was your weekend? It was a beautiful sunny weekend, a little chilly but beautiful. There was a 5 minute rain storm but aside from that it was nice. I spent time outside cleaning the back beds, and getting my containers ready for their spring and summer flowers. This year I will not plant anything until May, just to be sure it survives. I could even see my peonies starting to poke out of the ground and that always makes me happy. Their fleeting blooms are the joy of Spring.
We went for 2 long walks to amp up our step goal for the weekend and just enjoyed the weather. It reminds me of Fall, it is not too hot, not too cold, just enjoyable.
Sunday my brother made homemade pain au chocolat, otherwise known as chocolate croissants, and they were scrumptious. I baked German nut rolls, they were not exactly what I thought they were going to be but they were very good. For years I have been trying to replicate something my grandmother made, they were close but not exactly as I remember. Have you ever tried to replicate something you remember from your childhood or a favorite restaurant and the flavor is close but just not there?
What about you? What did you do this weekend?
Next up +5 things.

The Secret French Recipes of Sophie Valroux
French-born American chef Sophie Valroux had one dream: to be part of the 1% of female chefs running a Michelin-starred restaurant. From spending summers with her grandmother, who taught her the power of cooking and food, to attending the Culinary Institute of America, Sophie finds herself on the cusp of getting everything she’s dreamed of.
Until her career goes up in flames.
Sabotaged by a fellow chef, Sophie is fired, leaving her reputation ruined and confidence shaken. To add fuel to the fire, Sophie learns that her grandmother has suffered a stroke and takes the red-eye to France. There, Sophie discovers the simple home she remembers from her childhood is now a luxurious château, complete with two restaurants and a vineyard. As Sophie tries to reestablish herself in the kitchen, she comes to understand the lengths people will go to for success and love, and how dreams can change.
