FRIDAY FAVORITES NO. 580
Good morning friends! How was your week? I wish that I could say that mine was uneventful, but yesterday during a rain and wind storm a rather large, 50 year old Longleaf pine tree, fell on our house. Thankfully we, my husband and 3 pups, are all ok. The room the tree fell on not so much.
Ok, enough about me let’s get to all of the good stuff I found this week, spring salads and dinners, books, a midid skirt outfit and lots more.
Food
A refreshing snap pea salad with fresh mozzarella, radishes, and lots of fresh mint.
Chicken pesto pizza is my new favorite pizza!
Bake salmon with dill sauce a 30 minute, spring inspired meal.
Doesn’t this garden frittata with goat cheese and potatoes look delicious?
Blueberry muffins are a weekend favorite at my house, what about yours?

BOOKS
On the morning of Friday 5th August, 1927, Miss Agnes Humphries – the landlady of the attractive, if-slightly-shabby, white-fronted townhouse at Number 23 Burlington Square – has a decision to make.
The rooms of the second floor lie empty, since poor Mr Blandford’s unfortunate demise, God rest his soul. And Agnes must make up her mind as to who will be her new lodger… Will it be her spirited, young niece Clara, who drifts through the glamorous world of London’s Bright Young Things? Or Stephen, the sensible, church-going, respectable banker who seems just be too good to be true? Or the timid war widow named Mercy, who is clearly running from something – or someone…?
Agnes must choose between them. But what will her decision lead to? One of the choices could result in scandal, one in devastation, and one could even lead to happiness. If only she gets it right…
As all three lodgers enter Number 23, in alternate timelines, relationships are formed and destroyed, feathers are ruffled, and secrets are exposed. Three different choices. Three very different paths. And Agnes is to discover that nobody – including herself – is quite who they seem…
Her friends included Van Gogh, Degas, and Renoir. Paris celebrated her as a sought-after model, until she picked up the brush herself, at a time when art schools refused to accept female students.
By the time Suzanne Valadon was 15 years old, she’d been a horse walker, a milliner, a funeral wreath maker, and a circus acrobat, but that was just the beginning of her adventures. Here is her story, along with Ellie’s, a modern woman a century later at a crossroads of her life, who pulls Suzanne from the shadows of the past into the light.
A Life Without Water
A truly emotional story about love, loss and forgiveness.

John Bowman is sick. Very sick. While he still can, he has some amends to make and some promises to fulfill. But to do that, he not only needs his ex-wife’s agreement…he needs her.
With the past hovering between them like a ghost, Carol and John embark on a decades-overdue road trip. Together they plunge back into a life without water…but which may ultimately set them free.

On My Radar
Kelly says
Oh no! So sorry to hear about the tree crash, but I am thankful you all are ok. Bet the pups were so scared. Hope reconstruction goes quickly. The winds are still high here this morning.
Elizabeth says
Thank you! Two of the pups hid all day and the other barked. I hope the construction goes quickly, although as things typically go one project leads to another and this morning my husband and I were contemplating the master bath as well while the room is rebuilt. Just have to look at the budget and the timeline of projects.
Have a great weekend.
Juliet says
Elizabeth, I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine how scary it was for all of you … pups involved. Prayers that no further damage comes from next storm and the rebuild process is quick and smooth. I love blueberry muffins by the way. And I need that Bowden skirt. What a great piece for travel. xo
Elizabeth says
Juliet, thank you! Hopefully between now and when we start reconstruction things go smoothly.
This skirt is perfect for your travels, you can wear it with sneakers, flats, sandals, etc. The muffins are scrumptious!
HAve a wonderful weekend. xo

Hi Elizabeth,
I’m so very sorry to hear about the tree falling on your room. How frightening, thankfully no one got hurt. The noise must have freaked out your fur babies. Now the fun all begins with construction and one project leading to the next possibly. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Elizabeth says
Katherine,
Thank you! Yes the fur babies we certainly freaked out by all of the noise. As for reconstruction, I am looking forward to that, and as you mentioned we now have 2 other projects on our mind because “there is already a mess” .
HAve a wonderful weekend.
Jeanine says
I’m so sorry about the tree falling on your house! And that really wasn’t enough about you! We want to know details, especially involving how this happened, and if you will need to move elsewhere, etc. But especially, how you’re doing in this storm or life. I know sometimes trees fall without showing any signs of disease, but this has made me rethink taking down a huge tree near our house that shows a few signs of being unhealthy. Praying that you’ll find just the right people to reconstruct your house and that all will go as smoothly as possible.
Elizabeth says
Thank you Jeannie. I am praying that we have this fixed as soon as possible and can get on with enjoying the house and summer.
