Small Business Saturday, Diane Keaton Christmas Single, Notre Dame, Sequins and more on Weekend Meanderings.
WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Juliet and Kim. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.
How was your Thanksgiving? Are you tired of leftovers yet? I am not a fan of leftovers at all, unless it is pumpkin pie. Thankfully we went to my brothers and came home with a leftover container for one, my husband.
Yesterday we had another delay in the remodel. Truthfully, I expected it, as it is a holiday weekend and our contractor is out of town. The tilers came bright and early yesterday morning and when Bill questioned them about working on the shower they called their boss and it turns out and the drain is in the wrong place. The plumber is also out of town so the tile guys went home and we have to wait for any progress until Monday.
It is for the best, Bill is sick now and we are happy to have the house to ourselves. Yesterday I laid on the couch all day with a cup of hot chocolate and read 2 books and shopped the Black Friday sales.
I bought myself a subscription to Create Academy, some drinking chocolate, a few books, shampoo, moisturizer, and other self care goodies. Aside from that I had a few things in my cart but in the end I didn’t buy them.
What about you? What did you buy? Did you find any good deals?
Ok, let’s meander.
Shop Small~Small Business Saturday
Today is small business Saturday. Created in 2010 by American Express, Small Business Saturday is now a part of our holiday shopping experience, just like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
These are just a few of the creative, hard working small businesses that I purchase from. I also have plans to buy gift cards from my favorite local restaurant, yoga studio and hair salon this holiday season.
I encourage you to do the same because these artists and small business are the backbone of our country.
Shops and Artists
I “met” Ria on Instagram and I fell in love with her beautiful paintings. I even managed to persuade her to write a guest post about her art and inspiration.
You can see all of her fine art on her website and perhaps find something special for yourself or your family and friends. If an original painting in not in your budget this holiday season you are in luck because Ria has launched a limited edition set of prints. You can se them all in her print shop. All orders over $75.00 ship free and a portion of the sale of the limited edition prints will be donated to Toys for Tots.
I’ve been a longtime follower of Pamela @salishseacottage and have enjoyed her cottage renovations, forays into beekeeping and now her beautiful candles.
You can read more about the company and the candle descriptions at Hood Candle Company and follow on Instagram @hoodcanalcandlecompany
Shropshire needle felt artist – fine wool sculpture, Zoom classes, needle felt supplies can all be found in her Etsy shop! She is also the author of “Little Needle Felt Animals” published by Harper Collins 2014. I am partial to this Needle Felt Fox and to the needle felted toadstools.
Allison is an interior decorator, blogger and small business owner, she has an Etsy shop. Her former home, has been featured in many magazines and shelter magazines and shared online too. If you are a fan of polo, horses and wonderful antiques than you will enjoy every piece in her store.
Patricia is an artist and friend and her work is amazing. You can find prints, original art, cards, notebooks, 2025 Calendars and more in her shop! She also does commission so if that is of interest to you contact her directly.
Elizabeth Floyd
Elizabeth Floyd, a former architect Elizabeth left her job at the age of 35 to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. While there are many of her paintings that I would love to own(everyone in her current exhibition) at this point they are not in my budget.
I was lucky enough to buy one of her small watercolor paintings. There are still a few left if you are a blue and white fan, she also has prints, calendars and original oils available, and beautiful Christmas prints too!
Most Lovely Things
Did you know that Annie, of the blog and Instagram Most Lovely Things has a shop? Annie makes regular trips to the markets in France and you can find vintage finds, lavender sachets, handmade ornaments and more in her shop.
Notre Dame Reopens After 5 Years
Can you believe it has been 5 years since we all sat stunned watching one of the most famous and beloved churches in the world burn? While the wood ceiling and the spire did not survive the cathedral itself did and after 5 years and almost 1 billion dollars it will re-open its doors to the world on December 7th. I cannot wait to see it unperson on my next trip. On a side note the inside was last cleaned in the 1850s so I am sure that many of us will not recognize the gleaming inside.
Diane Keaton~First Christmas
Diane Keaton has fulfilled a life long dream at the age of 78 proving that you are never too old to accomplish whatever you like. First Christmas is her new Christmas single, it is a sad song about the first Christmas after a loss in your life. You can listen to it here.
Sequins
Sequins seem to be having a “moment” this holiday season. There are dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, jackets, shoes and more to add a pop of sparkle to your party outfits and holiday dress. You can add a sequins separate to your velvet pieces and look fabulous this holiday season.
Here are a few of my favorite pieces for all of our favorite shops, you can see more below on My Radar.

In Case You Missed it This Week on the Blog
On Monday Musings I shared this outfit, a great book, movie and more. Everything, including the plaid shoes are on sale.
It is not secret that I love books, and traditions. Before I even knew what Jolabokflod was we were already doing it. This week on the blog I shared this Icelandic tradition that you might want to add to your holiday traditions as well.
This year I made these pumpkin pie streusel bars and I think I like them more than traditional pumpkin pie. Add these to your holiday dessert table, they are easy to make and your family and friends will love them.
Last but not least, Friday Favorites! This week I shared lots of recipes to use up your Thanksgiving leftovers, some fun Christmas books, a few of my Black Friday shipping finds, hint, they are plaid and more.
