Weekend Meanderings

Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Juliet and Kim. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.

It is so nice to wake up in my own bed this weekend. Although we had a fabulous time last weekend in Chicago at my niece’s wedding the situation at the hotel was anything but relaxing. Not only was it Valentine’s weekend it was also a holiday weekend and the hotel was filled with 8 groups of kids from across the country for a hockey tournament.

I won’t share the name of the hotel but I will say the experience was not the best. Letting teens run up and down the halls banging on doors and yelling “fire” every night while the chaperones sit in the hotel bar is not a great for the other guests. The only saving grace was the 9:00 curfew the kids had. The management of the hotel was rubbish and our complaints fell on deaf ears.

On another note, this week we got snow and ice and rain and 2 more snow days for the kids! I loved it enjoyed the beautiful fluffy flakes yesterday. Sadly they are gone now and warmer weather is on the way. Did you get any snow?

This week it may get up to 60 and then back down in the 40’s. One day you are wearing a parka, the next shorts.

Ok, let’s meander.

Bridget Jones~Mad About the Boy

I know that many of us love the behind the scenes of our favorite move sets, so when I came upon this behind the scenes video of the new Bridget Jones movie I was thrilled. The attention to detail is amazing and it is fascinating to listen to the reasoning behind each piece.

Did you see the new Bridget Jones movie? Do you have a favorite in the series? If you want the series you can see them all on PrimeVideo. I will be honest, I prefer the books.

Fragmented~Rob Strati

This past week I came upon the amazing work of artist Rob Strati on Instagram. His latest project is called Fragmented. It was inspired by a blue and white plate his wife inherited from her mother. In 2020 the plate was dropped and shattered. His wife kept a piece of the plate on their kitchen island for almost a year because she could not bear to part with it. Rob took the fragment of Blue Willow china to his studio and created a piece of art to give something back to his wife.

Not only did she love the gift and the memories but she thought it was something others would relate to as well. Since then this collection has been written up in several art magazines and is “speaking” to people all over the world. I love the idea of taking something broken and giving it new life and a new purpose, that sounds beautiful to me.

Robs’ art is in collections and galleries all over the world. You can see all of his work and purchase originals and prints on his website. Note: the originals are definitely an investment.

If you are in London you can see the collection on view at the Aga Kahn Center in London 1/30-6/08/2025.

Or follow Rob on Instagram and his website for upcoming work and projects.

Audrey Hepburn~La Paisible

Knight Frank.

La Paisible, French for “the peaceful place,” is the Swiss villa and 40 acre estate Audrey Hepburn lived in from 1963 until 1993. Located in Tolochenaz near Lusanne the 18th century farmhouse was sold in 2001 by her sons to Katharina and Jean-Marc Beaujolin. The couple raised their 6 children in the house and are now empty nesters. Having decided to downsize they have listed this beautiful house and property for sale with Knight Frank and it can be yours for a mere $21 million dollars.

  • Wow! The hotel experience sounds awful! You are too kind to not mention the name. Even though your complaints fell on deaf ears, hope you leave them an honest Google Review. I rely on those reviews when booking our hotel reservations. Love what you’ve put together for this weekends meanderings.

    • Deanna,
I will leave a review on Google, I just didn’t want to besmirch the hotel on the blog.
I am happy that you enjoyed Weekend Meanderings. I love sharing the things I discover.
      Have a wonderful Weeknd.

  • Hi Elizabeth,
I love Blenheim Palace. We took our kids there when they were small and they had a blast. Lots to do there and have lunch too. I have to watch the new Bridget Jones and this about the decor.
The art with the plates is so cool.
Both these outfits are lovely. Especially like the short trenches now – and this is like the one I shared last week, so I guess they are all over.
Sorry your trip was a nightmare at the hotel. I hate that. I would have asked for a partial refund. Will you share more of the wedding and Chicago? Sounds neat.
Hope you get some sun this week. xo
