FRIDAY FAVORITES NO. 638
Good morning friends! How was your week? Even though it was a short week it still felt long and busy. Maybe it was the incessant rain and gray days or the long to do list? Or it could have been the fact that last weekend I did not do anything but have fun. I am not sure but I am a little tired today.
Yesterday I finally planted the last of my outdoor plants. Slowly but surely I am adding cottage perennials to my front beds and in the back. My problem is that I love to buy them but hate to plant them. Oh and this week I ordered a bunch of bulbs too. It’s a little late to plant them but our weather is warm until November so according to the landscaper I should be ok.
Aside from that, the wildflowers in the front are doing well, but so far I only have a small white flowers and a few tiny pink ones. In the back, the deer have decimated both the zinnia bed and the wildflowers and the pots of corabelles. The funny thing about the posts they are munching out of, they are right outside the open window near out bed, and we never heard them nor did our “watch dogs.”
How are your gardens doing? What is your favorite thing that you have planted?
I have lots to share this week so let’s get to it.
FOOD

Honey chicken, with honey butter, garlic, lemon, spices and chicken. An easy 15 minute meal.

This lemon pizza is a white pizza made with creamy mozzarella, garlic, parmesan and lemon. I think it’s perfect for summer.

A 20 minute, steak salad with tomatoes, red onion, home grilled corn, gorgonzola cheese crumbles, and balsamic vinaigrette.

Slice and bake lemon sugar cookies. These easy and delicious cookies will be a family favorite.

BOOKS~ ON MY LIST AND MY BEDSIDE TABLE
Beach House Rules
Kristy’s latest book is out! Run don’t walk to the nearest bookstore or library.
When Charlotte Sitterly’s husband is arrested for a white-collar crime, she and her daughter Iris are locked out of their house by the FBI and—what’s potentially even worse—thrust into the spotlight of @JuniperShoresSocialite, the town’s snarky anonymous Instagram account. Cut off from her bank accounts and feeling desperate, Charlotte takes up an acquaintance’s offer to stay at a beachfront former bed-and-breakfast that’s home to a community of single mothers and draws plenty of gossip in the small coastal North Carolina town.
Charlotte and Iris find solace and are surprised by how much fun they’re having with the other families despite their circumstances. But when the women discover a secret link between them, it changes everything they thought they knew about the unconventional family they’ve created and leaves them wondering whether their coming together was a coincidence at all. Will the skeletons in the mommune closets help Charlotte and Iris reclaim their place in the Juniper Shores community—or shatter the sisterhood forever?

Happy People Read and Drink Coffee
Diane seems to have the perfect life. She is a wife, mother, and the owner of Happy People Read and Drink Coffee, a cozy literary cafén Paris. But when she suddenly loses her husband and daughter in a car accident, the world as she knows it disappears.
One year later, Diane moves to a small town on the Irish coast, determined to heal by rebuilding her life alone-until she meets Edward, a handsome and moody photographer, and falls into a surprising and tumultuous romance.
But will it last when Diane leaves Ireland for good? At once heartbreaking and uplifting, Diane’s story is deeply felt, reminding us that love remembered is love enduring.

The Lost Orchard
‘I began to dream about an orchard filled with thousands of fruit trees… Today we have an orchard with over 150 ancient varieties of apple. Each one has its heritage in a village or a county that used to thrive on that particular variety. They tell the story not only of what we have lost in Britain but also what we could regain.’
Over the past seven years, Raymond Blanc has planted an orchard of 2,500 trees in the grounds of his hotel-restaurant in Oxfordshire. Yielding about 30 tonnes of fruit for his kitchen each year, it is full of ancient and forgotten varieties of British apples and pears, along with walnut trees, quince, medlars, apricots, nectarines, peaches, plums, damsons and cherries. A further 600 heritage fruit trees have been added from Raymond’s home region of Franche-Comté in France.
