Monday Musings No. 55, a weekend update + 5 Things: what I read, watched, and discovered this weekend and more.

A cozy weekend at home
Good Monday morning musings friends. How was your weekend? We had a wonderful weekend at home. The first in a long time. No plans and lots of time to work on little projects.
Friday we ordered in, pizza, and I read while Bill watched Yellowstone. Not Yellowstone the tv series, this one is all about the National park and is narrated and features Kevin Costner. Occasionally I would loose track of my book because I was glancing up at the tv to see the beauty of the park in the winter or to watch the buffalo roam.
Saturday and Sunday were cold, we had a few days of winter weather so both mornings started slow reading in bed and drinking hot chocolate with my pups. I slept so well this weekend, but then again I always do when it is cold. We like to sleep with the windows open and when it is 30 outside it makes the bedroom pretty chilly. Nestled in my feather bed and snuggled under my down quilt I am like a “bug in a rug”, cozy warm and sleeping sound.
The rest of the days were spent in the kitchen, taking long walks and working on little projects. I made the chicken tiki masala fried rice recipe I shared on Friday Favorites and it is delicious! I highly recommend it. Sunday Bill made our favorite chili.
All in all, a lovely and productive slow weekend at home.
Ok, Grab your coffee, tea or chocolate and let’s get on to 5 things.
+5 THINGS
1.Reading
Jana. Brit. Daniel. Henry. They would never have been friends if they hadn’t needed each other. They would never have found each other except for the art which drew them together. They would never have become family without their love for the music, for each other.
Brit is the second violinist, a beautiful and quiet orphan; on the viola is Henry, a prodigy who’s always had it easy; the cellist is Daniel, the oldest and an angry skeptic who sleeps around; and on first violin is Jana, their flinty, resilient leader. Together, they are the Van Ness Quartet. After the group’s youthful, rocky start, they experience devastating failure and wild success, heartbreak and marriage, triumph and loss, betrayal and enduring loyalty. They are always tied to each other – by career, by the intensity of their art, by the secrets they carry, by choosing each other over and over again.
Following these four unforgettable characters, Aja Gabel’s debut novel gives a riveting look into the high-stakes, cutthroat world of musicians, and of lives made in concert. The story of Brit and Henry and Daniel and Jana, The Ensemble is a heart-skipping portrait of ambition, friendship, and the tenderness of youth.
