Friday Favorites No. 600
Good morning friends. Happy Halloween! Do you have any plans for tonight? A party or handing out candy to all the little kiddies? No party for us and no trick or treaters. In our neighborhood, which has no streetlights and is very dark, they have trunk or treat in a few of the cup de sacs, our chapel does the same.
I do miss seeing all of the cute kids, and eating the candy too. My favorites, Whoppers, Tootsie Rolls, Butterfingers, and Reeses. What about you? What is your favorite candy?
Let’s get to it, I have lots to share.
FOOD
In honor of Halloween I picked out a few pumpkin recipes that I think you will enjoy.

Pumpkin and pesto cheese shells, jumbo pasta shells stuffed with a basil pesto and ricotta cheese mixture. Then baked in a spicy pumpkin vodka sauce. Teigan treats the best recipes!

Turkey pumpkin white bean chili, this would be perfect tonight before or after the kids trick or treat.

Savory pumpkin pizza with pumpkin, shallots, herbs, and lots of cheese.

Moist Pumpkin Bread With Streusel Topping and Maple Glaze, easy and delicious.

The Second Chance Cinema
At the end of a fog-covered alley, glitters a glamorous cinema. It’s nearly impossible to find. When Ellie and her fiancé, Drake, stumble upon it during a late-night walk, they’re shocked to discover what’s playing inside the red-velvet auditorium: their formative memories.
Drake fears what the cinema might reveal, but eventually gives in when Ellie insists they return for more viewings. She’s haunted by a night from her past that she doesn’t fully remember. This is her opportunity to piece the story back together. But as the memories displayed on screen inch closer to the present, they realize they’re both keeping secrets from each other.
With their wedding on the horizon, Ellie and Drake must decide if seeing their pasts changes their plans for a future together. Filled with warmth, hope, and a dash of magic, The Second Chance Cinema is both an enchanting escape and a thought-provoking examination of how our memories shape who we are.

A Death on Corfu
Minnie Harper isn’t used to putting herself first. Not after she moved away from England only to be left raising two children alone on the Greek Island of Corfu following her husband’s unexpected death. But with her daughter begging to be sent to school abroad and her son grasping at his own independence, Minnie realizes she must prepare for the next stage of her life.
When famous mystery author Stephen Dorian settles into a neighboring villa to escape writer’s block and hidden scandals, she is intrigued at first by the handsome Londoner—until he proves to be nothing more than a boorish grump. Determined to avoid the man as much as possible, Minnie is shocked when he offers her a well-paid job as his typist. She isn’t in a position to turn down work, even from a man she has sworn to hate.
But before Minnie can fully regret her decision to take the job, she makes a horrifying discovery that changes everything. A young maid has been murdered, and local authorities aren’t moving fast enough to bring justice to the terrible crime. Unwilling to allow the death to fade into obscurity like the stories of so many other women deemed unworthy by society, Minnie launches an investigation of her own—and reluctantly accepts Stephen’s help. As she embarks on a dangerous search for answers that reveals another side of Corfu, unsettling questions take shape about her employer-turned-confidant and the culprit who just might do whatever it takes to strike again . . .

The Austen Affair
Tess Bright just scored her dream role starring in an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. It’s not just the role of a lifetime, but it’s also her last chance to prove herself as a serious actress (no easy feat after being fired from her last TV gig) and more importantly, it’s her opportunity to honor her mom, who was the biggest fan of Jane Austen ever. But one thing is standing in Tess’s way―well, one very tall, annoyingly handsome person, actually: Hugh Balfour.
A serious British method actor, Hugh wants nothing to do with Tess (whose Teen Choice Awards somehow don’t quite compare to his BAFTA nominations). Hugh is a type-A, no-nonsense, Royal Academy prodigy, whereas Tess is big-hearted, a little reckless, and admittedly, kind of a mess. But the film needs chemistry―and Tess’s career depends on it.
Sparks fly, but not in the way Tess hoped, when an electrical accident sends the two feuding co-stars back in time to Jane Austen’s era. 200 years in the past with only each other to rely on, Tess and Hugh need to ad-lib their way through the Regency period in order to make it back home, and hopefully not screw up history along the way. But if a certain someone looks particularly dashing in those 19th century breeches…well, Tess won’t be complaining.
A wickedly funny, delightfully charming story, The Austen Affair is a tribute to Jane Austen, second chances, and love across the space-time continuum.

SHOPPING~OUTFIT OF THE DAY

plaid dress//boots//jacket//bag//bracelet//perfume
Recently Cindy shared this dress with me and it’s perfect for the outfit of the day. It’s a rich and beautiful Ralph Lauren plaid dress which can be worn on its own or with a jacket. I’ve paired it with black RL boots, but you could also wear it with flats, heels or sling back sandals. Add your bag, a spritz of perfume and you are ready for whatever you have planed day or night.

On My Radar

Hi Elizabeth,
I had a few friends over, one to spend the night and another forever friend spent the day with me. We talked non stop. I love and enjoy engaging with my friends but at the end of my visits I’m in a good exhausted mode. Do you get like this.
I think we both live in adult communities, we live on the 10th fairway in a country club. We do not get trick or treaters. I miss not seeing the cute little ones at the door and giving out candy. I got a little Halloween jewelry fun on, funky stuff. Just a kid at heart.
I gave out three fun fruit and candy and handcrafted cards to friends. I booed one neighbor/friend.
I’ve shared my “Kindness Club” with my friends and what I’m doing to spread joy and happiness during such chaotic
times that we are in. I know from what you have shared about yourself you spread joy often.
Have a lovely evening.
Katherine, I would love to know more about your Kindness club! Please share.
It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your friends! Times like that are precious and such a blessing.
Have wonderful week friend.
Thanks for the great looking baking pan recipes…I love being able to make a meal in one pan!
Paula, you are very welcome. Have a wonderful week.
