Monday Musings No. 197
Good morning friends, I hope that you had a lovely weekend. It was a beautiful Fall weekend, not too hot and not too cool, with some sun.
Thank you for all of your kind comments about my mentally ill family member, they mean more than you know. It is so difficult as many of you shared, especially around the holidays. Some days you feel helpless, other days angry, and still others completely detached. I will pray for all of your and your families just as I pray for mine.
Saturday we sorted some things in the garage and took two loads of stuff to the thrift store. I am still cleaning out my Christmas buckets and we had some boxes from our move 4 years ago. I wish I could say it looks like we made progress but…not yet. I sweat the stuff multiples in there.
Then Saturday evening my sister and husband came over for dinner and football. My sister and I talked and read and the men enjoyed a few college games.
Sunday after mass I came home and decided to do a Fall clear out of my closet. Needless to say I made a big mess, but that is progress. I will finish it this afternoon.
We have a busy week ahead. Today our kitchen designer is bringing clients to see the kitchen and laundry room because they want to do something similar with brick floors and layout.
Then we have a few appointments this week along with work and life.
What about you? How was your weekend? What did you do and what do you have planned for this week?
Ok, on to +5 Things.
Read~A Cornish Cottage By the Sea

I read this book in one sitting and loved it! A cottage by the sea, new friends and a little romance, the perfect escape after a long week.
For Jo Jenkins, life has always been about putting others first. But with her children grown and her ex-husband as rotten as ever, she knows it’s time to put herself at the heart of the story. So, when she inherits a beautiful beachside cottage in Cornwall, she grabs the chance to start over.
The crumbling old cottage needs a little love, but so does Jo. And with the help of her new friends – a kind-hearted jeweller, a no-nonsense businesswoman, and a local Jack of all trades with a past of his own – Jo begins to rebuild more than just bricks and mortar.
But tucked away inside the cottage is a secret that could change everything. As the waves roll in and the sea air clears her mind, Jo must decide if she’s ready to let go of the past. Will she finally learn to embrace the life she truly deserves?
Christmas Book for Kids

Kid Christmas of Claus Brothers Toy Stores
Nicky Claus works with his three uncles in the Claus Brothers Toy Emporium. Uncle Hanz makes the toys, Uncle Louis checks them and Uncle Levi adds the… what’s the scientific term for it? Ah, yes. The magic! For each toy made at the Emporium has a special sparkle that means it will find the child it is perfect for.
One day, Nicky notices a young girl with her face pressed up to the glass. When she disappears, he follows her and finds her living on the streets with lots of other children, none of whom can afford a toy. Nicky vows that for one night only, every child will have the toy of their dreams and – with the help of his uncles and some flying reindeer – the legend of Father Christmas is born.

4. SHOPPING BREAK~Outfit of the Day

Do you dress for the holidays? Yes I realize you wear clothes, I mean dress up? We do and I recently purchased this pair of plaid shoes for under $40! They are comfy and look great with skirts, pants and even jeans. Don’t like plaid? Try leopard!
This vibrant red skirt would look beautiful with the shoes and anything else you pair with it. A blouse, sweater or even a t-shirt. If you want something a little les colorful there is a similar skirt in black and gold brocade that looks beautiful. A sprits of perfume, a pair of earrings and that’s it! A classic holiday outfit to wear for years to come.
