Weekend Meanderings
Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.
I never feel as old as I am, that is until I read that Jaws the movie is 50 years old this month! WHAT? I went to see that movie when I was 8 years old. No wonder I hate when anything brushes against my legs in the water.
When did you first see Jaws? Did it scare you?
It’s time for my weekly or is it daily weather report, IT IS HOT! It may even reach 100 this week. Summer is not my favorite season if you are new here, once it gets hot like this I find myself counting the days until Fall. There are 93 if you are counting too.
We have spent a lot of time this week in the pool and paddle boarding on the lake, there is a beautiful breeze that cools you off but makes it a bit of work to get back to shore. So the heat and hot weather hasn’t been all bad.
Ok, enough about me, tell me about your week. Did you have a good one? What are your weekend plans?
I have lots of fun stuff to share so let’s get to it.
One to Follow~Mrs. Truffle Pig
Mrs. Truffle Pig, otherwise know as Genevieve Harris is a Canadian who moved to London to work in fashion. She married an Englishman, and turned a 600-year-old dilapidated farmhouse in Rye, East Sussex to a family home. Henry VIII is said to have slept there!
She is one of my favorite accounts on Instagram because she is so real. She shares her house, dogs, ducks, geese, family and thrifty finds each week. Why not follow along with 331, 000 of us?

Another One to Follow~Vladimir Kanevsky
Do you like botanical illustrations, flowers and art then Vladimir Kanevsky is another one to follow. You can find him on Instagram or his website. Or if you are lucky enough to be in NY at the Frick museum. If like me, your plans do not include NY in the next few months, then enjoy this video introduction to his work.
Outrageous~The Mittford Sisters
Outrageous is the latest series to catch my eye. Based on the book The Sisters: The Saga of the Mitford Family, by Mary S. Lovell, it’s the story of the Mitford sisters, six sisters who refused to play by the rules and whose often-scandalous lives made headlines around the world.
Set in the 1930s, it is a tale of betrayal, scandal, heartache and even imprisonment.
You may not be familiar with all of the sisters but if you like English stately houses then you will know of the youngest sister Deborah Mitford, the Duchess of Devonshire and Mistress of Chatsworth. This is a great article about Deborah.
Learn more about all of the sisters here.
Go for Grandma

A beautiful movie about the bond of a grandmother and her grandson. I cannot wait to watch this movie, you can read more about the movie and see the trailer here.
Cope
Take 5 minutes and watch this short film it will definitely make you think about the world a little differently.

On My Radar

SO many fun things here, Elizabeth! Thanks for the what to watch and read recommendations, too.
Darling Elizabeth! I can always count on finding a new show to watch and someone brilliant to follow on Instagram from your posts! How did I not know about Genevieve Harris? Thank you!
Elizabeth … I was 12 when Jaws came out. And I’ll never get over it … when the sequel came along I remember the catch phrase ‘just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water …’ What? I never thought it was safe to go back in the water. What a lasting impact that movie had. But 50 years ago. Unbelievable. Sorry it been so hot for you already. I’ve been thanking my lucky stars we haven’t had extreme heat – yet. I’m going to queue up Outrageous tonight. I know a little about a couple of the sisters and I’m excited to learn more about… while oohing and awing over English country houses! Happy weekend. xo
It takes me forever to get through your blog because you have so many interesting videos and links. But I’m not complaining at all! . Ok..I’m a bit older..I read jaws in one day, it was so good and saw the movie when I was about 23. Yep turning 73 next month.
We are going out to eat tonight and other than that I’m staying inside and keeping cool!! Happy weekend!
