Weekend Meanderings

Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.

How was your week friends? Mine went way too fast, thankfully it’s the weekend and I have time to catch up. This week in addition to several appointments I zipped up to Highpoint to get my electric bike fixed and while there I popped into a few of my favorite showrooms. I do not need anything but it is fun to look.

We also test drove the Ineos Grenadier, Bill is looking for a new vehicle. Although they are a very cool, they are really more for someone that spends a lot of time off road, spending time outside and having more adventures than we our at this stage in our lives. Back to the drawing board.

I have a question for you, what would you like to see more of on the blog? More recipes? Women’s issues?Books? Inspiration? There are lots of things that interest me, some of which is not a fit for Pinecones & Acorns. I have a Substack and I was thinking of sharing things there that don’t “work” here, that way we could have more of a discussion. If that makes sense. If you are interested let me know.

Ok, let’s meander.

One to Follow~Zack Pinsent

Zack Pinsent of Pinsent Tailoring is a 25 year old man from London who is a historical tailor. He creates bespoke clothing for Men and Women from 1660s-1900 using period methods and materials. I discovered him on Instagram and am fascinated by his style and his talent.

If you like clothing, sewing and fashion you will find Zack interesting.

You can see more of his work on Instagram or his website Pinsent Tailoring.

The Roses~ Home Tour

A few weeks ago I shared the movie The Roses and this week I am sharing the third character in the movie, the incredible house! Interestingly enough, the house isn’t really a house but a movie set.

Beneath the Surface~The Retirement Myth

Sometimes life isn’t what we thought it would be. Moving to France and starting over is not one big vacation, it is life in a new place with all of the ups and downs of life but in a new country.

Movies to See

The Summer Book

The Summer Book is based upon the book by the same name, by Tove Jansson. It tells the story of a woman nearing the end of her life(Glen Close) and her granddaughter who is at the beginning of hers.

House of Guinness

House of Guinness looks like a fascinating movie.

Mad for Plaid~Boden

Guess what fellow plaid lovers? Boden just released its Fall and Winter plaid collection. There are dresses, skirts, shoes, sweaters, scarves and more. You can see my favorites below.

  1. I loved the 10 meaningful things article. I wanted to read about the Wisconsin Parmesan cheese bit it was behind a paywall. Is there a way to share that as a gift article?

  2. I would love to see your home and your flowers. I’m 71 so I don’t know what sub stack is‍♀️I really enjoy your blog!

  3. I appreciate the variety of articles and subjects you feature, so I’m happy with what you’re sharing. This week, I’ve been working on making clothes for the fall which husband and I will spend on a long road trip:)

  4. Elizabeth so many good things here. I am looking forward to all these films! I can’t believe that The Roses house was on a set. That was incredible. I also follow Zack! Thank you for sharing our Signature Style posts. I missed your wonderful pecan bread, which sounds so good. I miss baking. I have done almost none this year as Max doesn’t eat sugar anymore. I may have to try this and give it away. The nachos are on my want to make list now too.

I think all these plaids look pretty especially the one with the leopard mix!! I am still sweating here. Hoping the cool weather comes soon and we can get our fall on.

Good luck with a new car. I don’t know what a Grenadier is. I will look it up. Max has a Rivian and it is all electric and he loves it and takes it to the mountains, camping and all that.

I think you should share more of your house because I would love to see it and also where you live. I don’t know much about that area at all. Would love some day trip posts. I also think writing about matters that affect women would be super. I think right now, we need more of that in this world.

Have a beautiful weekend Elizabeth! xo

  5. Elizabeth! So many good finds … I can’t wait to see the Roses. And House of Guinness looks intriguing too. So many great films coming in September. Boden’s plaid collection is made for you. Glad you had a fun trip … that car/SUV looks kind of awesome. I didn’t even know about it, I’ll have to show to Jim. Have a great week! xo

    1. Juliet, I am with you. The Roses looks fabulous! And that house is so cool. House of Guinness is fascinating, such an interesting family.
I love the Boden plaid and am pondering the skirt.
I think Jim would find the SUV pretty cool. As I said, I think it is for someone more outdoorsy than us. We have a Landrover and will probably go with a RR.
      Have a wonderful day friend.
      xo
