Friday Favorites No. 652
Good morning friends! Happy Friday to you. Did you have a nice week? As always, when we have a long holiday weekend, the short week throws me off. Don’t get me wrong I love a holiday but I was racing around all week. We have nothing on the calendar this weekend except family pizza night tonight with my siblings.
I have a great book, and a pile of new magazines and plan to spend a few hours reading and doing nothing this weekend. What about you? What are your plans this weekend?
I have lots to share this week so let’s get to it.

They All Came to Barneys
From its humble beginnings as a discount shop on Seventh Avenue, Barneys grew into an international phenomenon, setting the tone for fashion not only in New York, but across the country and worldwide. Told with razor-sharp wit and inimitable style, They All Came to Barneys takes us on an insider’s journey as rakish, would-be rocker Gene Pressman and the global fashion industry grew up and came into their own, side by side.
Through back-room handshake deals with designers, days at the haberdasheries on Savile Row and nights out at New York clubs and Paris bistros, three generations of Pressmans—grandfather Barney, son Fred, and grandson Gene—built Barney’s little shop into an empire and a byword for cool around the world. They All Came to Barneys is a front-row seat to the rise of some of the biggest names in fashion (Armani, Alaïa, Wintour, Meisel) and the store that came to dress an entire generation of celebrities, models, artists, and magnates. Set against the biggest movements in fashion and in culture, from the birth of ready-to-wear in the ’60s and disco delirium in the ’70s to the devastation of AIDS in the ’80s and the explosion of globalization in the ’90s, Gene Pressman had a backstage pass to history—until hubris, ambition, and risky business threatened to tear it all apart. . .

Born on the ninth day of the ninth month in the year 1900, Kitty Deverill grows up in Castle Deverill, built on the stunning green hills of West Cork, Ireland—the same place her ancestors have always dwelled. She isn’t fully Irish, as the son of the local veterinarian likes to tease her; but this doesn’t stop Kitty and Jack O’Leary from falling in love . . .
Bridie Doyle, daughter to Castle Deverill’s cook, cherishes her friendship with Kitty. Yet she can’t help dreaming of someday having wealth, having glamour, having . . . more. And when she discovers Kitty’s darkest secret, Bridie finds herself growing to resent the girl in the castle who seems to have it all.
When the Irish revolt to overthrow British rule in Southern Ireland, Jack enlists to fight. Refusing to keep her distance, Kitty throws herself into the cause for Irish liberty, running messages and ammunition between the rebels. But as she soon discovers, her allegiance to her family and her friends will be tested—and when Castle Deverill comes under attack, the only home and life Kitty has ever known are threatened.

Swept off Her Feet
Evie Nicholson is in love . . . with the past. An antiques appraiser in a London shop, Evie spins fanciful attachments to Victorian picture frames, French champagne glasses, satin evening gloves, and tattered teddy bears—regardless of their monetary value.
Alice Nicholson is in love . . . with Fraser Graham, a dashing Scotsman whom Evie secretly desires. As crisply neat and stylish as Evie is cheerfully cluttered, Alice is a professional organizer determined to pull her sister out of her comfort zone—and who presents her with an irresistible offer
