A cosy fall day spent reading and spring hot chocolate.

Good morning friends, did you have a good week? Are you ready for the weekend? Me too! This weekend we are going to be busy, it’s my husbands birthday today, Sunday we are having our first dinner party and Saturday we are going to have to spend the day scrubbing floors, moving furniture and boxes and setting up rooms. Our painter/contractor finished everything he can until phase two of the renovations which looks like it will be March or April so we are “moving in” and setting up house. What are your plans for the weekend?

I have so many great things to share this week, you might be here awhile so make sure to get yourself a drink before you start reading.

Food

I love au gratin or scalloped potatoes and I make them for most holidays, I think I am going to make a change this fall from my recipe to Creamy Pumpkin and Cheddar Scalloped Potatoes it sounds like the ultimate in comfort food.

I will be adding this  Chicken Barley Soup to my Fall and Winter menu and this pumpkin chili too!

I made this browned butter cabbage  twice this week and it is scrumptious.

I’ve never made a vegan bread recipe,  Sweet Carrot Cranberry Bread looks easy and delicious.

I love a good cocktail and this weekend I am going to be trying this Pumpkin Spice White Russian.

Two Women

They meet on a spring day in the local garden center: Inge, a native Swede, lovely and refined, is a woman ruled by reason and her own deeply held moral beliefs; and Mira, a Chilean immigrant who still feels out of place in the cold Scandinavian north, has spent far too much of her life searching for life’s meaning.

Irish photojournalist Grace Brennan travels the world’s war zones documenting the helpless and forgotten. After the death of her friend and colleague, Grace is shaken.

She returns to London hoping to rekindle the spark with the only man she ever loved—Scottish businessman Ian MacDonald. A Simple Christmas on the Farm

Pick a Pine Tree

Finds

Start your plaid Christmas shopping early to make sure that your gifts arrive on time.

Love these  and this . Or maybe you would prefer ainstead.

Red  Black Plaid Dress Pinecones and Acorns

This red and black plaid dressis a great piece to wear not only for the holidays but all winter long. You could wear it with booties and tights or even a pair or knee high boots. This dress is a little more casual.

If you are a fan of jackets, and I am, you might want to give your pups something special for Christmas and afor them is perfect.

Ski fans will love this

Add theseto your holiday table, they would be perfect with white dinner plates and then you can layer the salad size plaid plates. That is what I do, I have and I have a large collection of salad plates for every season and I simply switch them out. It is a great way to add color and pattern.

That is it for this week my friends, I hope that you found something you might enjoy making, something interesting to read and perhaps a gift or two for your Christmas list.

PIN ME FOR LATER
