Monday Musings No. 34

A weekend update, Studio McGee, a delightful film and so much more on Monday morning musings.

Monday musings hello Monday coffee

Good Monday morning friends, did you have a nice weekend? I had a lovely weekend, Saturday I puttered in the yard for a bit, went to the farmers market and then started stocking my kitchen. It is so exciting to see all of my dishes and baking pans again. A lot of which was never unpacked from the move last year because we anticipated starting the renovation much earlier than we did.

Sunday morning I woke to the rumble of thunder and lightening illuminating my room. I sat and watched the light dance across the sky for some time before the skies opened up and the rain began lashing the house. After two hours the rain let up but the day was dark and moody.

Can you believe September is just a week away? It’s almost Fall y’all and I cannot wait! No, I am not wishing away summer, we still have trips to the pool, a concert in the park, a bbq and lots more fun planned before Fall.

House Musings

I used my new ovens for the first time, the pumpkin bread came out perfect as did the cookies. My homemade caramel was a failure. I was trying to do too many things at once and at the crucial stage where you pour in the cream I poured in a cup instead of a half a cup. I ended up with caramel “soup” instead think creamy caramel sauce.

Today the electricians are finishing up their last few projects and the dishwasher and vent are getting installed. After that, all that is left is painting, and the last of the backsplash. By September 1st I believe the kitchen will be finished, minus the refrigerator, one latch and the handle for the dishwasher.

Now onto 5 things.

  1. Hi Elizabeth,
I’m so happy for you that your kitchen is almost completed. You have been so patient and understanding through all the speed bumps that came your way through all of your remodeling. I just know you have outstanding taste, I’m sure everything will look beautiful.
So sorry to hear about what happened to your homemade caramel sauce, when you get so many things going at the same time it’s so easy to make a goof. Live and learn right?
