Monday Musings No. 43, what I read, watched, and found this weekend.

Good Monday morning musings friends. How was your weekend? We had a wonderful weekend, a little fun, a little work and lot of relaxing.
Let’s Meander
Friday we took the afternoon off. It was a gorgeous sunny day. Bill and I strolled around the village, popped in and out of a few shops and then stopped for a cocktail. We opted for a seat outside under the warm afternoon sun next to the buzzing herbaceous border. Between sips of my cocktail and homemade chips I snapped photos of the industrious bees.
What is it about those black and yellow insects that bring so much joy. Their fat little bodies moved by gossamer wings to hover or alight on each flower.
Then we grilled burgers and had an early night.
Saturday and Sunday
Saturday was another beautiful day but we both decided to spend the morning reading and relaxing and the afternoon working.
We have a big backyard, with two patios, one by the studio and one off the living room and dining room. The house also has a large deck that we have disliked since we moved into the house.
There are many reasons to dislike this deck, it blocks the view of the yard, Â it is too big, and it slants in so many directions it is like a fun house floor.
Sadly the deck is 2 years old and the people before us spent a lot of money on it. They were elderly and were taken advantage of. I could go on and on about the electrical outlets in every post, the strange stairs and the elevation.
Since we renovated the kitchen and the Carolina room(which we turned into the dining room) the deck, more specifically the railings have bothered me more and more. They are all you see when you look out the windows.

Saturday afternoon we decided enough was enough and we spent an hour removing the railings and a “foot board” they were screwed into. Had I a saw handy I would have taken down the posts but for now I can live with it.
Eventually, we will be dismantling the desk and having raised beds built for flowers, herbs and some vegetables.

2. Read

Pulled Cocktails For Three off of a stack and read it this weekend. A little chick lit is always good on the weekend and Madeleine Wickham is one of my favorites.

Still trying to find an advent calendar? This one is beautiful and you will have it forever and this one is over the top.Â
Speaking of which, how to make a budget for your holiday spending.Â
4. Finds

Have you seen the Home Alone Lego set?  It is pricy but it is very cool. A friend posted it on Instagram and I thought I would check it out. Many people mentioned that the set comes with/in 24 bags(of Legos) and that they use it as an Advent Calendar and build a little each night with their families.
That said, if your little ones love Legos,  the Advent calendars are always fun and are a LOT less expensive that the Home Alone house.
I personally love to do puzzles in the winter, anyone else? Wouldn’t this Santa checking his list puzzle be fun to start on December 1? Or you could give it to the kids or yourself on December 6th the Feast of St. Nicholas.
My favorites are the nostalgic puzzles of Charles Wysocki. Do you like to do puzzles?
Looking for a classic cable knit sweater to wear this winter? This one is beautiful, dress it up or down.
Have you shopped at TJ Maxx lately? They have some beautiful cashmere cardigans.Â
Of course I have to share a little plaid, these plaid scarves are stylish, classic and at $14.00 are a great deal too.
Treat yourself or a friend to this gorgeous book for the holidays. I bought it in August and I have been savoring eery page.

Need a stocking stuffer? This little mouse and all of its friends are adorable. I want this one for myself.
