MONDAY MUSINGS NO.98

Good morning friends, happy Monday! How was your weekend? It was a relaxing weekend here at my house. Aside from when I dug out the Christmas tree and realized at some point we misplaced a portion of the tree. Not sure where but I had to order a new Christmas tree, hopefully it will arrive this week. Otherwise I might get a real tree this year.

I am trying to enjoy the calm before the “storm” of visitors, parties, and the holidays. We have friends arriving next week, then family for Thanksgiving, then another group of family the first week of December and then family for Christmas.

In between that, parties, outings and lots of holiday fun. Just writing all of that makes me tired.

Saturday we met my sister and brother in law for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Then Sunday my sister came over and spent the morning with me eating cake, drinking, tea looking at Christmas stuff and just chatting.

Bill and I had a quiet dinner, watched a movie, I finished my book and that is it.

What about you? What did you do this weekend?

Next up +5 things.

+5 THINGS

1.READ~The Boy, the Mole the Fox and the Horse.

The Boy, the Moles, the Fox and the Horse.

If you haven’t read this book yet, I cannot recommend it highly enough.I read it last year and pulled it out again this week and was reminded all over again how charming it is. The perfect stocking stuffer!

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” asked the mole.

“Kind,” said the boy.

Charlie Mackesy offers inspiration and hope in uncertain times in this beautiful book based on his famous quartet of characters. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse explores their unlikely friendship and the poignant, universal lessons they learn together.

2. WATCHED~The Lost King

I loved this movie, it is inspiring and Sally Hawkins is amazing. It is a “feel good” movie that I think you will enjoy.

The Lost King movie poster.

The Lost King

In this inspiring true story, amateur historian Philippa Langley believes she has made the archeological find of the century: the lost burial site of King Richard III. She takes on Britain’s most eminent historians, forcing them to rethink the legacy of one of the most controversial rulers in English history.

Watch this video to hear the real Philippa Langley talk about her story and what she thought of the movie.

  1. Hi Elizabeth.
It sounds like you are going to be extremely busy during the holidays. Hopefully everything will go well. Sorry to hear about part of your Christmas tree is not to be found yet. Things like this can be a big mystery. You have so much on your plate, just one more thing to add to it.
Happy belated birthday. it sounds perfect to me how you spent it, quiet time is important. We share our birthdays in common, November 5th is my special day.
Birthdays come around way too fast. I try to give mine aways but no one wants it.

I am excited for the holidays and all of the friends and family that we will be spending time with. We will just have to take a little time to ourselves when there is a pocket of time.
I cannot imaging what happened to the base of the tree. Thankfully I was able to order a new one that arrived today.
Have a wonderful week and thanks so much for reading and leaving a comment.
