MONDAY MUSINGS NO.99
Good morning friends! How was your weekend?
I am worn out! We had a busy weekend, friends in town, dinners, the Festival of Trees, holiday prep and lots more. I need a nap.
The next guests arrive on Wednesday! We cannot wait. Between now and then I have a ton of stuff to do. Last minute prep for Thanksgiving, finish decorating the tree and the house and a few other things. In between that…life, work, appointments, etc.
Do you follow Jessie Sheehan on Instagram? Yesterday she shared the easiest piecrust, you might want to check it out if you are making pies and were considering a store bought crust. I am making it myself so I will let you know how it goes.
Are you hosting Thanksgiving? If you are not making pie do not forget to check out my 10 Thanksgiving Dessert Recipe that are not pie.
What about you? What did you do this weekend?
Next up +5 things.
+5 THINGS
1.READ~
This cloth bound book is so beautiful, the recipes, the images and the stories remind me of my grandmother. There is still time to order Advent: Festive German Bakes to Celebrate the Coming of Christmas and to enjoy baking the recipes for your family and friends.
The Advent season is one of the most special times of the year, when candles twinkle, the Christmas tree is decorated, and the smells of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove fill the kitchen.
In her new cookbook Advent, Anja Dunk shares her recipes for the very best of traditional German festive bakes. From lightly spiced Lebkuchen, frosted cinnamon stars, jam-filled ginger hearts, snow-capped coconut macaroons, to marzipan-filled Stollen, edible tree decorations, lucky meringue mushrooms and a gingerbread house dripping with candies and sugar icicles, you will find delectable spiced treats to fill your Bunter Teller and share with friends and family.
Featuring Anja’s own linocut illustrations and evocative photography, this is a stunning, comforting clothbound volume that will be a family favourite for many years to come. The weeks of Advent hold all the sweet, almost unbearable anticipation of Christmas for days on end and this gorgeous book embraces that fairy-tale feeling within its pages.
The festive season can be a busy time but Advent is here to slow things down with mindful crafting and recipes, designed to soothe the soul. Authors Kerstin and Laura avoid the conventional Christmas kitsch you see everywhere around the winter months, focusing instead on magical projects that will bring authentic joy and make you feel truly festive.
Slow down with projects such as advent candles, table garlands, gift wrapping, watercolour Christmas cards, place cards and door wreaths.
The recipes are designed for you, me and us. In the ‘For Me’ section, choose from winter warmers such as Roasted pear with honey and rosemary, Hot winter smoothie and French pancakes with plum compote. In ‘For You’, embrace that sweet tooth with Peanut brittle, Orange & cinnamon syrup, Caramelised turmeric walnuts and White cinnamon & almond crackles. Finally in ‘For Us’, cook up a storm with those recipes that will sum up the winter months, from Mushroom wellington with chestnut cream, Creamy cauliflower and almond soup, Lentil shepherd’s pie with sweet potato and Pomegranate and gin punch.
