WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good morning and a happy Saturday to you! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.
Can you believe Thanksgiving is Thursday? Seriously, wasn’t it just Halloween? They say that time goes fast as you age but this is ridiculous.
I was laughing to myself this week because after all the back and forth on social media about Christmas usurping Thanksgiving, my inbox has been flooded with Valentine’s Day promotions and sales. Doesn’t it seem a little early?
We have a busy weekend ahead. Tonight, overnight guests, the Festival of Trees, and dinner with friends. What do you have planned?
Ok, on to weekend meanderings. Pour yourself a coffee, tea or chocolate and settle in because I have lots to share.

Thanksgiving Tablescape Ideas Using Natural Elements

I won’t lie, my house is a seasonal hodgepodge. Some rooms are decorated for Christmas, the front porch has both pumpkins and pinecones, the kitchen has bowls of mini gourds, and baby boo pumpkins and there is a bowl of Halloween candy sitting next to some Christmas ribbon candy. I am trying to embrace the chaos.
The good news is that the Thanksgiving guests will not be sitting at a Christmas table. I will be decorating the table with fruits, pumpkins, leaves and foraged twigs, branches and lots of candles. It is easy to decorate the Thanksgiving table with things in your garden, and your fruit bowl!
If you are between seasons here are 10 THANKSGIVING TABLESCAPE IDEAS Made WITH NATURAL FINDS.

What to Do With Thanksgiving Leftovers
I won’t lie, I don’t like leftovers. We try to give as much away as possible on Thanksgiving, and not to have food that we are eating two or three days later. But there are a lot of people that love them and so I thought I would share a few ideas.
- Turkey pot pie, you can use the turkey, carrots, potatoes, etc.
- turkey sandwiches, this one is my favorite!
- turkey soup
- turkey frittata
- Turkey enchiladas
- Quiche made with vegetables and maybe even a little turkey
- Pancakes with cranberry sauce
- Use leftover cranberry sauce to make a “crisp” with apples or put it on your oatmeal
- Make a pumpkin pie milkshake!

There are so many more ideas to use your Thanksgiving leftovers. I am sure that you have a few of your own, if so please share them in the comments. I pinned a lot of recipes on Pinterest if you need a few ideas.

I have to admit to loving leftovers. To me, that’s the best part of making casseroles. I’m so glad you told me when Thanksgiving is this year. I thought it was the following week!
Brenda
Brenda, you are right, I do like a leftover casserole. I was madly speaking about leftover Thanksgiving dinner.
I hope that our doing well.
Elizabeth
Happy Saturday, Elizabeth! I adore Paula Sutton and did not know she has a second book coming out. Exciting, I’ll pre-order. The podcast is an exciting development and I’ve downloaded the intro and first episode. I’m super excited about her first guest. Love your idea for a natural Thanksgiving table. I know yours will be beautiful. But no leftovers?! Did I know this about you?! I do love leftovers and soup. Dessert is my favorite of course. And pumpkin pie makes the best breakfast! Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead. Enjoy! xo
Juliet, good evening. I should clarify, I don’t dislike all leftovers, mainly meat. I LOVE soup, I can eat it every day. And pie for breakfast too!
Paula is amazing. It is so interesting to read about her past career, and starting over in the country. As well as her rise as an influencer, somewhat controversial as she says. No matter how she became famous, she is amazingly down to earth, funny, and so very likable. She dances to her own tune and I love her vintage style and clothing.
The book sounds fabulous!
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
xo
Elizabeth,
I adore Paula and will look for this new book. She’s such a cool person. Love how she lives. The bean and mushroom soup looks delicious.. One to keep for the cold months! I am trying to eat more beans always.
Love the outfit with the velvet dress and the cute shoes!
I hope you have fun this weekend. The tree light thing sounds fun and I love having houseguests.. Makes things so much more festive sharing it all. It sounds like you’ll be busy cooking for that many. Hope it’s wonderful. I like the sound of the tablescape too. Please share photos. I would love to see it!
Thank you for all the comments on the trip! I was thinking about you during a lot of it and still have to send you something I bought for you!
Wishing you a beautiful Thanksgiving ! xo
