Gifts for Men Who Have Everything: Bill’s Favorites

Gifts for men who have everything, chosen with the help of my husband, who owns and uses every one of them.

Men are hard to buy for. At least the men in my life are, because none of them want or need a thing. So every year I go straight to the source and ask my husband, Bill. These gifts for men who have everything are his favorites, and he owns and uses every one of them. (A few have become mine, too.) If there is a man on your list who already seems to have it all, start here.

For the Man Who Loves to Cook

A good pan is a gift that lasts a lifetime, and the Smithey No. 11 Deep Skillet is a beauty. It is polished cast iron, made in America, with deep sides and a glass lid that turns it into a braiser, so it can sear a steak one night and simmer a stew the next. Smithey stands behind it with a lifetime guarantee, which tells you everything about how long it will last.

The Made In carbon steel griddle stretches across two burners on the stove, and it works just as well on the grill or over an open fire. It heats beautifully, it is naturally non-stick once it is seasoned, and the raised handles make it easy to carry outside. Pancakes on Saturday morning and smash burgers on the grill that night, all on the same pan.

For the cook who also loves the outdoors, the Barebones enamel mixing bowls are sturdy enough for a camping trip and handsome enough for the kitchen counter. They stack neatly, they are oven safe, and their speckled finish looks like something found at a farm sale.

And then there is the Ooni Koda Pizza Oven. We have owned ours for about six years. It takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you will be making pizza every week, and the neighbors will start finding reasons to drop by.

Treats for the Pantry

Every year we buy Maille mustard in Paris, along with the special seasonal flavors that only appear at the holidays. The good news is that you no longer need a plane ticket, because you can buy it online. A few jars tied together with a ribbon make a wonderful stocking stuffer.

Bill eats hot sauce on everything, and Red Clay is one of his favorites. I am more of a hot honey person. I love the hot honey drizzled over sweet potato slices with a little peanut butter, which sounds strange until you try it. A bottle of each makes a sweet and spicy gift for two.

Everyday Favorites

Bill has a collection of Yeti cups. He uses the mug to keep his coffee hot at his desk and the lowball to keep his cocktail cold on the porch, and he would tell you there is no such thing as too many.

A Theragun massager for the back, neck and shoulders is one of the most useful gifts in our house. It is shaped to fit along the spine and has five settings. To be honest, I use it more than Bill does, so perhaps it belongs on my list instead.

For the Man Who Loves the Outdoors

Bill bought his first Barbour jacket in 2001, and he still wears it. Barbour jackets are warm, handsome and very nearly indestructible, and now we both have several. If you want to give one gift that will still be in the closet twenty years from now, this is it.

We both carry a foraging bag on our walks, for whatever catches our eye along the way. A sturdy canvas bag with a strap is a lovely, practical gift for the man who likes to wander outdoors.
