FRIDAY FAVORITES NO. 575

Good morning friends, happy Friday to you. This weekend it is time to “spring-ahead” so don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead. We loose an hour of sleep but we are one step closer to Spring.

It’s been a busy week, on Monday my husband and I took a virtual bread making class with King Arthur. I cannot recommend it highly enough, the instructor is great, the recipes are delicious and there is lots of time for questions and answers before and after class.

Tuesday our friends left after a long-over due visit. We had a great time and have plans for a rendezvous in the upcoming months. The rest of the week I spent catching up on work and appointments.

I have lots to share this week, Spring outfit ideas and finds for your house and wardrobe, take-out recipes to make at home, and of course books to add to your stack as well as interesting tidbits of information. Let’s jump right in.

FOOD

By the time Friday rolls around I am thinking of foods that I don’t normally make that I can take a little more time and experiment with. Like take-out food that you make at home.

BOOKS~ ON MY LIST AND MY BEDSIDE TABLE

A Tuscan Night: A novel set in Italy and Greece.

A Tuscan Night

Some trips start with a suitcase in hand. Other, after a fight. And some when a new job forces you to drop everything and leave. Some journeys have been engraved in our souls. Because they hurt us. Because they made us hurt our loved ones. And some trips are governed by a crazy love. They make us forget what it’s like to live and cause the pain of unrequited love.

But the thing you may only realize when it’s too late is that the best journeys are the ones you never made. The ones you never dared, the ones you never tasted…

My journey started on the day I was told that I only had a few months left to live… and it was the most beautiful I have ever made.

Dear Mr. Knightley: A Novel

Dear Mr. Knightley: A Novel

Samantha’s only friends were characters in books, but her real life takes an extraordinary turn when a mysterious “Mr. Knightley” offers her a full journalism scholarship—on the condition that she write to him regularly. Will their long-distance friendship unlock her heart?

Sam is, to say the least, bookish. An English major of the highest order, her diet has always been Austen, Dickens, and Shakespeare. The problem is that both her prose and conversation tend to be more Elizabeth Bennet than Samantha Moore.

But life for the twenty-three-year-old orphan is about to get stranger than fiction. An anonymous, Dickensian benefactor calling himself Mr. Knightley offers to put Sam through Northwestern University’s prestigious Medill School of Journalism. There is only one catch: Sam must write frequent letters to the mysterious donor, detailing her progress.

Sam’s letters to Mr. Knightley become increasingly confessional as she begins to share everything from her painful childhood memories to her growing feelings for eligible novelist Alex Powell. While Alex draws Sam into a world of warmth and literature that feels like it’s straight out of a book, old secrets are drawn to light. And as Sam learns to love and trust Alex and herself, she learns once again how quickly trust can be broken.

Reminding us all that our own true character is not meant to be hidden, Katherine Reay’s debut novel follows a young woman’s journey as she sheds her protective persona and embraces the person she was meant to become.

The Roughest Draft

The Roughest Draft

Three years ago, Katrina Freeling and Nathan Van Huysen were the brightest literary stars on the horizon, their cowritten book topping bestseller lists. But on the heels of their greatest success, they ended their partnership on bad terms, for reasons neither would divulge to the public. They haven’t spoken since, and never planned to, except they have one final book due on contract.

Facing crossroads in their personal and professional lives, they’re forced to reunite. The last thing they ever thought they’d do again is hole up in the tiny Florida town where they wrote their previous book, trying to finish a new manuscript quickly and painlessly. Working through the reasons they’ve hated each other for the past three years isn’t easy, especially not while writing a romantic novel.

While passion and prose push them closer together in the Florida heat, Katrina and Nathan will learn that relationships, like writing, sometimes take a few rough drafts before they get it right.
