Loi Thai and Tom Troeschel, Lilse McKenna and more on weekend meanderings.

WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet! This is our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye.
How was your 4th of July? I hope that you had a wonderful day however you spent it. We went to the parade, hosted a bbq and ended the day with more fireworks. As I mentioned yesterday, I am a little bit tired. We have been on the go since Tuesday at the beach club, the pool, bbq’s, long walks, cocktails, dinners and lots of friends, family and fun.
In between that the guys were here working on the house. The hole in the roof is gone! The new shingles are on and we are protected from water coming in from the top. The gaping hole on the front of the house is still there and with wind and rain water can get into the house between the bricks and the wall so cross your fingers we do not get heavy windy rain.
Yesterday the inspector came and we passed the inspections so up next, the bricks, new walls, ceilings, etc. Progress…I love it.
Ok, enough about me, let’s meander.
ONE TO FOLLOW~Lilse McKenna

Recently, while perusing Pinterest I came across the work of Lilse McKenna and fell in love with all of her designs but a Maine cottage in particular.

The New York-based interior designer creates homes that are rooted in tradition and that are filled with beautiful art, furniture, fabrics, patterns, and layers of texture. Her work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Luxe Magazine, and Domino. She was also recognized as one of House Beautiful’s Next Wave 2022 designers.
Fans of Julia Berolzheimer may recognize Lilses’ work, she recently helped Julia and Thomas remodel their dining and living room. You can see more of the project in this article in the WSJ.

Loi Thai and Tom Troeschel X Serena & Lily
Am I the last to know that Tom and Loi from Tone on Tone gave a home tour to Serena & Lily?
I have been a fan of Loi and Tom for years and years. They owned a fabulous store for over 15 years in Washington, D.C and sold the most stunning Swedish antiques and furniture from their annual buying trips. Sadly I was never able to get to the store in person but I did follow Loi’s even more beautiful blog Tone on Tone.

Several years ago they sold their store and have transitioned into interior and garden design. Loi and Tom split their time between their beautiful Maine house and a cottage in Annapolis, MD. You can see their Maine house in the Serena & Lily video above and on Instagram.
Their work has been seen in Traditional Home, Martha Stewart Living, Southern Living, Southern Home, Country Living, Country Home, Maine Homes, Washington Post, and many more.

You can see more of their work and homes on Instagram, Tone on Tone website.

Molly in Maine
Speaking of Maine and home tours, did you get a chance to watch Molly’s Homeworthy home tour? Her house looks beautiful and Molly is a natural on camera! You can see more on Molly on Instagram and her blog.
Widow Clicquot
Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, who, after her husband’s death, defied convention by assuming the reins of the fledgling wine business they had nurtured together. Steering the company through dizzying political and financial reversals, she became one of the world’s first great businesswomen and one of the richest women of her time. The Widow Clicquot is the captivating true story of a legend and a visionary.
The movie will be released on July 19th, it based upon the book Widow Clicquot.

On My Radar

Elizabeth, So exciting about your home. Will you share more photos of the progress? I think we would love to see it.
Lilse seems to be one I have to check out. Her Maine home looks gorgeous! Those blues are dreamy. I did not know Serena & Lily had home tours! I followed Loi many years ago when he was Tone on Tone! I love their style and home and those hydrangeas.
Molly’s tour was so good! Yes agree she’s a natural. The Widow C is on my list now thank you. Another great women who was under the radar.
Your July 4th sounds like a lot of fun. I bet you had a cute outfit on too. I love this blue and red one. I’m going to try these cauliflower steaks too.
Hope you have a great weekend ! xo
Lovely post thank you Kim.
Hi Elizabeth! First of all, thank you for sharing my Homeworthy tour and blog! What a happy surprise!
I am a huge fan of Loi and Tom’s Maine home. Their collection of spongeware and limelight hedge inspired me to include both elements in my own home. I did have the pleasure of visiting Loi’s store many years ago, long before I was Molly in Maine. Also love the other Maine home you shared. I saw a tour of it somewhere… And that adorable lobster dress! The cauliflower “steaks” look amazing. It sounds like you have had a fun but busy week. I hope you get the chance to relax now!
Molly, I loved your home and you on Homeworthy! You are brave in my eye because that is so out of my comfort zone.
Tom and Loi are amazing!
Have a wonderful week!
Also, enjoyed the piece on introverts preferring the written word. It explains perfectly all my “um’s” during my Homeworthy tour… 😉
I am definitely an introvert and thought that article was very interesting.
