MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 150

Good morning friends, happy Monday musings to you. How was your weekend?

We had a weekend. I’ve had a cold the last few days and a crazy cough, the kind where you don’t cough all day but the minute you go to bed you can’t stop coughing. Needless to say we did not get much sleep.

Early Saturday morning I went to sleep on the couch and about 2:30 in the morning I woke up my husband because I could hear something in the ceiling/attic. Needless to say, we couldn’t figure out what it was. I think a squirrel or mice as it has been cold the last few days.

I suspect it is a squirrel because when they tore one of the walls down in the renovation it was filled with nuts! Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of nuts spilled out onto the ground along with a bunch of petrified lizards. Critter gitters has been called and are coming this morning.

There was no rest for the weary or the wicked as bright and early Saturday morning two guys showed up to put the cement boards in the shower and to scrim the floors in the bathroom to get them ready for tiling today.

Sunday my sister and I went foraging for holly, magnolia, pine and pinecones for some containers that we are making. Lucky for us they are widening one of the roads here and everything was already cut down and waiting to be shredded so we just snipped off a carload of clippings.

Ok, enough about me, tell me about your weekend and then let’s move on to 5 things!

Christmas At Silverberry Hall book cover.

What better time than Christmas to believe in miracles?

Holidays can be tough when you’re recently single, but luckily for Sienna Sanderson working at Silverberry Hall means she is fully booked for Christmas. For the last few years she has helped Freddie and Elizabeth Blakesley run their beautiful manor and organising their legendary holiday bash has become the highlight of her year.

Nestled in a sleepy Cotswolds village, the Christmas Party at Silverberry Hall has become one of Darlingham’s most cherished traditions. But this year is different. With Freddie’s recent passing, they all need it to be extra special in his honour. Sienna is determined to go all out. There is going to be a festive play, carol singers, and a lavish Christmas feast in the charming old stone barn.

She is more than up for the challenge, but when Elizabeth learns of an adult grandson she never knew existed and asks Sienna to find him, she may have bitten off more than she can chew. Luckily, Oliver Townsend, the enigmatic and handsome set designer, seems more than eager to lend a hand…

2. WATCHED~ Endurance

From National Geographic Documentary Films and directed by Chai Vasarhelyi, Jimmy Chin and Natalie Hewit, ENDURANCE tells the inspiring stories of these two landmark expeditions, bound by their shared grit and determination.

  1. It’s going to be n interesting Thanksgiving ! I haven’t had a working double oven since a partial power failure. It’s an older oven so finding a replacement for the circuit board has been a challenge. I have to bake a pie so will be using my neighbor’s. Thankful I’m not hosting!
We got our tree up and I will do the rest after Thanksgiving. It’s turning colder so it finally feels like the season it’s supposed to feel like!
    Get well!

  2. Hi Elizabeth,
I hope your cough is better. It’s not fun dealing with no sleep because of the coughing. I can understand the issues with the roof critters and that keeping you awake.
It was good you got into nature and picked up some nice foliage for decorating.
    Have a good day.
